Does anyone know if a topper from a 2015 Nissan Frontier 5' bed will fit a 2020 Tacoma double cab with a 5' bed? I know it will not be perfect but just wonder if it has been done. I found a steal of a deal on a Leer from a frontier and I don't really want one on the truck at all times, mainly just when I go camping or on a road trip. The rest of the time it will be lifted up to the ceiling in the garage. My main concern is overhang/underhang and if I can get it sealed up.

Just get a softopper . It’s easy to remove and u won’t have to modify your suspension for weight . And it seals pretty nice

Considering your budget and how much you will remove it I would recommend a soft top too (snug top owner here).

I never have seen anyone on this forum or real life with a frontier shell.

I could be wrong, but I think the frontier's 5 foot bed is actually slightly shorter than 5 feet (!), unlike the Tacoma's which is like an inch longer than 5 feet. Ever walk past a frontier in a parking lot? The bed seems tiny.

The Frontier caps have a weird lip on the cab side of the bed, it wouldn't line up at all.

Thanks for the replies guys. E.J. I did not notice that in the picture of the topper the guy used. Definitely would not look good at all..

Another vote for softopper. They fold up against the bed, you can store them in the garage without needing a pulley system, and they keep your stuff dry and out of sight on road trips.

I had the shoe on the other foot for a long time, had a 2nd gen Frontier but could only find used caps for Tacos. Ended up going with a Softopper on that truck and liked it enough to get one when I bought my Tacoma.

Another vote for the softooper OP. Easy to install and take off. Weighs next to nothing and no garage pulley system needed. Great for camping and road trips as you described. Here’s one of mine at work :D
