    It’s 2019 and I still haven’t washed my 2016. That’s what rain is for.

Hate to say it but life became better when I started to think like this. I pay $30/month in winter and run cars through touchless almost every time I drive. 2 minutes...no salt on the car for more than 24 hours...I don’t let them towel dry...plus it saves me feeling guilty about not giving a tip.

what the hell kind of car washes are you going through man? even the rag automatic washes don't damage vehicles here. However I did get paranoid when someone said the automatic wash they went to didn't pick up the back of his Tacoma properly and crushed it in pretty good

I wish. But these conditions require some preventative maintenance.

Got my first automated car wash last week while in California. My 2015 is a Missouri FARM truck. I live on a dirt road. It has been very cold and rainy for about a month before I left to visit family in SOCAL. Drove in the rain and snow getting to California. The truck was a MESS! My cousin recommended a car wash near there Eastvale home. I was skeptical, but decided to go with it. The cost was $18.99. BEST money I ever spent. They even had undercarriage washing nozzles. I left enough Missouri dirt there for it to qualify for a US Representative. It looked like a new truck after it was detailed by the folks there. Now I wish we had one of those here in the Poplar Bluff area.

I wash my truck weekly at a specialized high end drive thru car wash . Only thing I request prior to entering the tunnel is that the brushes are turned off

Paint still has very deep shine !!! , and yes that's the OEM 17 yr old paint

I always think of the movie Gone In 60 Seconds where he swaps out another Eleanor Mustang in the car wash and the smashed one comes out the other end at the 40.05 mark, lol.

I took my Truck through an automatic car wash. It took 5 hours of wax stripping, paint prepping, polishing and waxing to get rid of all the swirl marks.

I will never do that again.

The newly renovated auto washes are amazing in terms of cleaning ability and paint care. The local place has unlimited washes for $30/month.

Yes, it's not the optimal solution for long term paint protection, but for a DD or truck, $30/month and maybe 1-annual detail if needed is a big time saver.

Yep the newer generation automated car washes are safe for your paint. The one I go to the attendant will turn off the brushes if you ask . I pay $35 per month and as I mentioned previously I wash my truck every week

Key word here for automated car wash- brushless. Do that and no issues.

Agreed! I always do brushless. Also up here in the north it is good to do the underbody wash in the winter. Pretty hard to do that with hand washing, unless you have one of those fancy pressure washer roller things.

The car wash by Taco Bell in PB is automated. I used it once. Didn’t get everything off. I’ve heard mixed reviews on it.

I'll take my truck to the nearby touchless car wash when she's dirty, and if she is really dirty then I will use the power wash bay and do it myself.
