So I am looking to turn in my 4Runner for a new Tacoma Off Road DCLB. Only problem is my wife will have to drive it some and she is 5’0”. The Taco doesn’t have a height adjustment on the drivers seat and she can’t see the hood of the truck. She drove a Tundra with the 8 way power drivers seat (wtf Toyota why can’t this be an option in a $38k truck) and loved it but the Tundra is way overkill for my needs (no towing) and would be huge for off road on the mountain 4x4 roads here where we live in Aspen, CO.

Does anyone have experience with short wives (or short owners) driving their 3rd gen Tacomas? Is it something they get used to or was it a deal breaker? Do I have to go Tundra...?

    High heels?
Not sure on all models, but on mine, the steering wheel moves in and out.

She has no problem reaching the pedals, just seeing over the dashboard. I suggested she sit on a pillow and that didn’t go too well...

My wife is 5' 1" and she drives my Tacoma every once in awhile and usually every time I go off road so she doesn't get bored in the passenger seat. Reaching the pedals is her biggest issues but besides that she knows its a truck so she uses that truck judgement of how close the bumper is to objects.

I don't let her drive my truck more bc men literally jump of their cars to holler at her even when I'm sitting passenger.

That’s good info, so you are saying she got used to it. I think my wife’s problem is she is used to driving the 4Runner where the seat can go up a couple inches...

Seat isn't height adjustable because of the cab design. The floor is simply too close to the ceiling to have any meaningful adjustment room vertically.

She drove full size and 3/4 trucks growing up so its normal for her. She recently just got a 4runner and won't let me drive it bc I F her seating arrangements up with me being 6' 3" lol.

There's threads about people doing spacers to raise the back of the seat up to a better height. I'm thinking doing it myself but I'm on the fence about it.

I'm 5'0" and the no height adjustment was almost a deal breaker for me. I love my truck though, and I just make an effort to sit up very straight in the seat. I'm also looking into the front camera mods, and I've had people stand in front of the truck while I'm in the driver seat to give me a good reference for where the front is. Being short with any vehicle is tough honestly, but we're usually pretty resourceful!

I'm 6'4" and being tall with any vehicle is tough. Vehicles are built for the 50th percentile.

OP, my wife is 5'2" and has no problems. She is 61 years old and drives my manual as smooth as butter. Never heard her complain about seeing over anything. She gets in, moves up the seat, adjusts the mirrors, drops the steering wheel and away we go from the bar where I had more than two beers. She doesn't drive it often but she has zero problems when she does.
