Too much wood?

• Does one cord of seasoned hardwood really weigh 2 ton? I'm guessing this is half a cord

 

Sub'd just because of the thread title.

 

I can only fit between a 1/4 to 1/3 cord in my long bed ...

 

This almost looks like your truck.

A cord is 128cuft ie 4'x4'x8'

 

Only if you're going to burn them. I don't want to be anywhere around if you light them up.

 

That answered my question before I had to ask it

 

We burn them in a controlled setting. IE block fire place.

 

Short bed is less than 1/4 cord, lo siento!

You're stacked over the side walls so probably about 1/4 exactly.

 

Also, cordwood weight varies drastically dependent on moisture content!

 

Measure the bed volume and calculate the cuft of area , compare that to 128cuft

Then you'll know

You are not going to get close to 1/2 cord of firewood in a short bed unless you add some sides or something. And that can weigh well over 2000lbs depending on species.

128 cubic feet equals one cord
Oak, Red- green 4888, dry 3528 lbs.
Oak, White- green 5573, dry 4200 lbs

 

It's around 30 cuft. 60 * 42 * 20 is a good estimate.
