Just installed the bak flip MX4. Super impressed with the quality and ease of installation. Love the matte finish on the panels. Michael at bak was great to work with. He gave a good discount for being a Tacomaworld member.

 

Love the look of that! How strong is it though. I live in the northeast and get dumped on with snow. Also, there are times I would be standing on it as well.

 

It’s definitely sturdy. The manufacturer claims it can hold up to 400#’s (evenly distributed). You could definitely stand on it. I think the occasional snow load wont be a problem. I was worried about heat and the top becoming unbearable. We haven’t had any super hot days since I put it on but days in the 80’s and it’s totally fine. The matte finish doesn’t absorb the heat as bad. The aluminum panels can ding though. If you live in an area that is prone to hail storms they actually recommend the composite panel cover but it only comes in a shiny black finish. Call bak flip and they can help you, plus they give a discount to TW members.
