Every tommy lift i've seen have been only recommended on full size trucks, and even then they are recommended to have a heavier truck suspension. Those lift gates are heavy. I'm not aware of a lightweight design either.

This is a pretty cool setup. I wonder how it will work with the composite bed. Hopefully the corner there is sufficiently rigid that torque won’t be an issue.

I was reading the reviews last night. It has to be bolted directly to the frame. Those that bolted it to the bed had a bad time.

Yep, the hitch idea seems pretty good for lighter loads. I build a similar ramp project like that using my trucks hitch. It will hold quite a bit as i've run my 500 lb+ snowmobile up, and down on this ramp just supported off the truck trailer hitch.

I have 2012 Tacoma single cab. I bought it used from a dealership in 2017 for $14,500. That time it was 5 years old and had 36k miles. Truck had G2 series, steel mounted on the truck and I even got a discount $500 on the truck because of that. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was valuable and I would use it a lot, but I told the guy..."you know I don't really want this, I want the original door." He said "I will give you $500 off." lol. Anyway, so as I said, this truck is awesome, I can confirm you can mount G2 on Tacomas, you will just lose the rear bumper, it's totally cut out, kind of ugly but I don't mind. I can post some pictures here. Oh and not to forget, the truck came with the overload extra springs because of the weight. Not sure if because the weight of the gate or they were hauling some heavy stuff. The previous owner was a company and they were carrying 50 gallon barrels of oil. What's pretty sweet about the gate is that it gives you extra 6" of length, so now my bed is 6'-6".
