They are all the rage right now for people trying to protect, I guess, their emergency savings against inflation. Fine for that purpose, although if you do have an emergency you're going to get penalized for the early withdrawal. Also the interest paid is TAXABLE INCOME (like all interest is), so you will lose some of it, making the effective rate of return lower than the nominal interest rate.

As an investment they're pretty pointless, both because of the limit and because even with current rates, they lag the annualized average return of the SP500 (both nominal and real):

And that 10.x% is subject to capital gains tax rates, meaning potentially 0%, not income tax rates.

If you want your money to make money, good ole VOO/VFIAX is a better choice.

Not pointless assuming you are already invested in the market and looking for a hedge against a few down years. Not for me, but I don’t begrudge anyone who chooses to use it as part of a balanced strategy.
