Its a little harder when you are trying to plan the event.

Got a anniversary coming up, want to take the wife to a special concert, you cant wait till last minute to get your tickets.
Planning a group concert trip, you want to be getting your tickets in advance to make sure your all together.
Traveling to another state and want to go to a concert while there, you'll probably want to get your tickets beforehand otherwise you might not get them.

Many times a night out and a concert involves dinner, dressing up, maybe a hotel in the city. Lots of things depend on those tickets being available.

I know nothing. New to the game. GME tanked today. But there’s always tomorrow. I’m living on a dollar and a dream lol. I’ll hold for a bit.

Coronavirus strikes again! My brother was working for a battery startup and the investors decided to pull funding. Had a meeting this morning and then they were all locked out of their computers.

I was kinda hoping they'd IPO so I could get in early.

I completely understand that struggle. It's a risk. I've never had an issue getting them on StubHub, but it is a risk nonetheless.

My wife is very "has to be planned out months in advance" while I am very "spur of the moment" So thats usually what makes it hard for me.

It makes vacations at my parents house in florida very interesting. My parents are spur of the moment too, so my wife will spend 5 hours prepping for dinner later that night... not sure what she does for 5 hours.

    State of my GME shenanigans:
Between the girl and I, at the peak we were up about $350k combined. She's now lost a few grand on her cost basis, and I'm green still but just hanging in there.

I wouldn't say I was greedy (oh who are we kidding, I definitely was). My original plan was to start unwinding at $300 and then sell off in chunks above that. When it blew threw $300 like it wasn't even there, that plan went out the window (mistake #1). When it hit $400 a share and was still climbing nonstop, I still didn't unwind (mistake #2).

When we caught the drop and it went back up to $300, I still didn't unwind (mistake #3)

And now that it's down below $50, I'm basically back where I started.

    My takeaways so far:

The short squeeze plan was solid. I made my decisions based on what I'd read, observed, and how the stock was reacting to the hype. What killed it, and I have no shame in saying this, is blatantly illegal manipulation to stop the demand by limiting purchasing. You want to play in the billionaires market, you have to be prepared to deal with the shady things they can and will do if they're losing money (mistake #4, a shred of hope in business and humanity).

The fallback to the plan, which was the OG original plan all along, was believing in the restructuring of the company with RC on board and his high powered buddies. That is unchanged. That is also why I bought in in the $30's for most of it. It was definitely low enough to risk that buy in. The short squeeze possibility became a bonus roll at the casino. Fair valuation would put the stock at around $120 in a year or two. So I may be turning short term cap gains into longterm cap gains. I can deal with that. There's definitely worse bets out there than being on the front end of a company restructuring.

Lastly, it's still unknown what actually happened with the squeeze. Was that it? Lots of arguments to say, yes that was it and it's done. There's an equal number of arguments that we don't have enough information yet. That's why next Tuesday is going to be very important.

Variables: As much as retail likes to think they drove this, they were merely the hype catalyst. In reality, we are a very small amount of actual dollars in the company. There's institutional money in this on both sides, and I can promise you that if another fund sees an opportunity to drive this up again to hurt one of their competitors, they will do it. Thus, the squeeze may not have actually been squoze. Second, the amount of media attention this grabbed so quickly led every "expert" in the world to weigh in their opinion. And surprise surprise, most of it is against the little guy. There's been some really shitty stuff blasted on CNBC that basically blames us for hurting hedge funds. Lolwut?

In conclusion: This is why you NEVER risk more than you are absolutely willing to lose on a play like this.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

In the TD Ameritrade app I watch the “movers” and any new ones I don’t recognize I suspect a pump and dump scheme. Especially if I start googling around and find no news about it.

the TD login has more and this only shows a few but it is enough in a pinch.

I start adding them to my “speculation” watch list. This one was like $4 around lunch when I was making lunch for my kids...looked at it later and was $11, $12, $16, $18
Just shooting up over 1,200% In minutes.

I didn’t want to chase it and would have sold short shares right then and there but I told TD to take the margin off my account just 2 days ago and they require you to have a margin account to short shares. (I didn’t know this until I tried to do it with SAVA this morning)

That is all very well said. And I honestly can’t blame anyone for not getting out before they changed the rules of the game and killed the momentum. And even after that it recovers back above 300 again. From there, it was a guessing game whether it would recover again or not. I’m glad you have a good outlook on it.

they don’t want the risk of protecting people’s data. Huge liability and they don’t want to deal with all the cyber security needed to maintain.

    my thoughts.
