It's less Tacoma and more mod
I'm willing to bet its the micro mudflap things in front of your front tires, the hang from the bumper support I think.

but no, really you have tight clearance and
the vehicle torques down/forward at the front end when in reverse.

What size tires? You are going to want to take a look around at what they are rubbing on and go from there, it could be your cab mount, UCA, or the plastic "water shield" or even worse your fender flares/ fenders in general.

I rub at reverse. Shit happens. Do some more trimming and cab mount chop, you'll be fine.

285/70/17 without any trimming.. of course you're gonna rub. start trimming the inner fender.. front and back.. you will most likely need a CMC as well.

I have trimmed the hell out of my front fenders, did the CMC, and have finally self cleared enough that I dont rub anymore.

I had the same issues with my Toyo Open country AT same size.

got 1 1/4" spacers and trimmed on a lot of plastics on the front fender front and rear now only time it rubs is when tucking the tire

Aftermarket UCAs and caster at 3* or more will help a lot.

I only said it would help...never said it wouldn't rub.

We did a bunch of trimming the day the tires went on. Test after after test until it went away. Just this wknd I noticed it only happens in reverse. Guess I will go in there and cut some more

Oh, well darn.... I'm outta ideas, but I'd imagine that you're hearing the rubbing in reverse but it is still happening somewhere when you're going forward. I'd look for possible wear spots and see where they match up on the truck.
