If someone knows of a thread that answers my questions I'd appreciate a link.

    I have a 2012 Taco with the Texas/TSS 17" Delta wheels. It came with 256/65 R17 "P" tires.

Can I put "LT" tires on a "P" rim?
Are "P" passenger rims metric and LT not metric?

If your question is in fact genuine, yes. You can put LT tires on a rim that has been used for a P tire.

Yes, you can put LT tires on a rim that previously had P tires. If you have worries. Have the same vendor from who you purchased the tires do the installation.

P is passenger rated. LT is light truck.

    P is 4 ply, vs LT 6 8 or 10 ply.

Thanks for the responses. I had read somewhere that the bead diameter might be different. Something like "P" passenger tires are metric and LTs aren't.

Nope, same standards. But an LT tire will actually be physically larger, same size, by a tiny margin, but its noticeable.

LT tires usually have 16/32nd P/SL tires will have 12/32nd new as an example.

Plus LT tires usually have firm sidewalls, where P/SL will buldge/bow a bit.

Biggest issue is weight, usually 10lbs-15lbs more if you go LT, and you feel it.

You can fit whatever tires are the correct size.

Speed and load ratings don't matter for fitment on the rim.

If you don't actually use your truck as a truck, i would recommend using p tires as they weigh less and get better fuel economy.

    The rim doesn’t care, it’s a piece of steel/alloy.

    the rubber tho that matters.
