I live in Washington so need a tire that’s good in the rain. Any tire suggestions? Anyone have the Falken Wildpeak AT4W? Thanks!

I have no experience on the BFGs.

The AT3Ws were excellent in the rain. They were one of the very few tires I've run that could maintain traction in a light, oil-slick mist , and then they did even better at clearing water in a water-ponding downpour. Fantastic wet tire. I'd love to hear reviews once people have put more than 1000 miles on the AT4.

There's something you should keep in mind when shopping however. For most tire brands, Falken included, the P-metric tires come with more siping and a slightly different tread composition than the LT equivalent. That means a wildpeak in SL or XL is going to do better on wet pavement than a wildpeak in C or E load. However, an LT wildpeak does far better on wet pavement than an LT KO2, according to most reviews. If you see wet pavement far more than you see rock garden, its worth the consideration to stick with the passenger loads.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Good to hear they did well in the rain.

You should also consider the Michelin LTX AT2. I have 50k miles on the set my Tacoma. They’ve been great.

I have the AT3W. I have put about 5000 miles on them. (Going to go rotate them once I finish my coffee) They have been really good in the rain and snow. I live off a windy mountain road, no issues at all on the wet pavement.

If you live on the west side of the state where rain is more likely than snow BFG, Toyo, or Falkens will do just fine. I live on the otherside of the state and we are more likely to have snow I run a dedicated snow tire. I have had all three of the brands I named and currently have Falkens, I prefer the Toyos. I don't think any of those are bad choices imo.

I have AT3W in E load. No complaints besides about a mile gas mileage loss from up sizing and added weight. That was my choice though. Highly recommended especially over the factory garbage. I've driven them through full on downpours and never felt them budge. Good off road and occasional snow. Road trip a few hundred miles and they ride well with no annoying tire road noise like most mud terrains. Ridge grapplers are also popular from a few people I know with then.

PNW here. 4th year on WPs and planning replace them with wps again.
They do well in the rain and snow we get here once in awhile

Been running Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme for about 10k miles. Now that I've truly seen winter conditions with snow and ice, I can say that this has been an excellent tire for all conditions. For wet driving, I cut through thick rain at 65-70 mph on the interstate like it isnt even there.

I know that Falkens are an incredibly popular choice, but these tires are worth a look if you want a solid all-terrain.

Just threw my Wildpeak AT3W SL load tires on my Tacoma the other day. Nashville has been seeing a bunch of ice, snow, slush, you name it. Keep in mind that they’re brand new but these tires have been amazing so far. I slip on the ice occasionally and wetness hasn’t phased them at all. I’ve got less than 100 miles on them so far but I’m very happy with my purchase. We’re going to be getting a few inches of rain next week and I have no doubt that they’ll continue to do their job.

What do you think about getting them in the SL instead of the C1? 95% of my time will be on pavement. I do like to go camping 20-30 miles back on forest service roads where it would a tire puncture would suck. However I guess that’s what your spare is for.

Don't get heavier load then the truck needs of you're mostly on pavement. They are stiffer, cost more up front, and cost you gas daily. I don't have to commute for work so my mileage isn't a factor.

I go in the middle of no where all alone at least once or twice a month so I wanted the added ply, but I wouldn't recommend that for most people.

Carry a spare plug kit and compressor you'll be just fine.

I’m really happy with my Open Range AT’s from Les Schwab. They preformed very well during this current snow and ice storm.

Contemplating AT4 or Michelin defenders. Let me know how the at4 ride and how noisy they are
