Hi all, I've got a 05 4D Taco. I'm looking for new tires and I'm thinking wheels as well. Currently have BF A/T LT245/75R17 on stock toyota alloy wheels. Every online store I look at asks me for my truck model etc and then tells me my tires are 265. Do any of you know why this is. Hopefully this isn't the dumbest question ever posted.

    Cheers

    Hi Troy,

Not a dumb question at all!

I don't believe there was an option for 245/75R-17 tires, at least not for your year. 245/75R-16 was, though.

Did you check the door placard? The door placard will list the tire size that came from the factory.

I didn't think of that. I apparently can put the 265s on instead but thought they'd rub. Thanks.

Quick question, what is TPMS. I went to your site to have a look at tires and it asks me that when selecting vehicle type.

265/70-16 came standard on the TRD Off-Road. 245/75-16 came on the base 4wd and prerunner. 265/70-16 would fit fine without rubbing.

Mine came with 17" rims, it originally had Dunlops for rubber and I switched them to the BF Goodrich ATs right away. I'm getting rims so I could switch to 16" rims I suppose. I plan on towing a travel trailer so I don't want any bigger tires. Is there much of difference between 265 and 245?

If yours currently has 245/75-17 the current diameter is 31.47"
Switching to 265/70-16 would give you a diameter or 30.61"
Switching to 265/75-16 would give you a diameter or 31.65"

Here is a tire size calculator you can play with to check different sizes.

TPMS good thing I asked, I was thinking something to do with a tow package.

The tire calculator is super helpful. Thanks all.
