Am I reading that right on my tires? Seems awful high. If so I need to put some air in cuz I'm at 30. I tow a travel trailer and they say to keep the tires on the stiffer side so I want to be sure.

Stock tires? That's high. For towing you can increase psi but for street use, it would be too stiff.

Most likely the PSI stated on your tires is the MAX PSI not the recommended PSI

Yes it stated that it was maximum psi. I'd just not seen tire pressures that high except on my trailer!

What psi would you all recommend for them while towing?

Thats the max air pressure. i wouldnt run a 6 ply over 40psi, especially on a smaller truck like a tacoma.

Mine are 51psi max and I run 44 or 45 in them, but I found that they ride better at that then the recommended on the door. It depends on the tire and how you like the feel of them, some will tram when under inflated or over inflated.

30 seems low unless the sidewalls are stiff....... I get alot of understeer at low psi.

either way I always try to stagger them... more in the front to counteract the understeer, since they support the engine and other parts...

slightly less in rear UNLESS Im towing or carrying a load.... keeps the lighter back end from being a tank, aids in traction, creates larger footprint.

when it rains, I will go up a few lbs in hopes of less hydroplaning.

depends on ur truck, ur preference, the load, the weather, the terrain, etc.

Chalk test it. Only way to really know what to psi to run on YOUR truck with the tires/rims/weight you have.

I run my 285/70R17LT Duratracs at 36-40. When towing, I'd set the rear at 44-46.
