I'm still using the stock wheels on it. Tire size is 265/70/16. The OEM tires (Rugged Trail T/A) lasted about 42K miles. I have Cooper Discoverer AT/3 on them now and have gotten around 36K on them with 4 - 5mm tread left. I do mostly city and highway driving but also do some off road when hunting. Tire suggestions?

Seriously tho, if your truck lives mostly city / highway / roads, and only sees a bit of dirt (you have a 4x4 TRD OR so the best of the best when it comes to traction aids) go with the Michelin defenders... they are gonna last the longest, provide the best wet / dry / ice / light snow grip of ANY street tire and should do decent in the dirt as well.

They will be my next set o tire when my Cooper AT3's wear out (i hate these tires, loud, wear funky etc etc). I strayed from the Michelin's for the last 3 sets because i wanted something "aggressive" looking, and every time i kick myself for it.

Oh also, the Defender is a LIGHT tire and has really low rolling resistance so MPG's will be better than other heavier / more aggressive tires.

I replaced my worn Hankook Dynapro ATMs ,which were decent tires , on my 07 DCLB with Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws ,LT265-70- 17,(LT's because I got a SMOKIN deal on them) due to the good reviews and am glad I did. They perform exceptionally good in all conditions and driving situations. My 05 LJ Wrangler had Cooper AT3s and in the snow/ ice i was not impressed. My Wifes 07 4runner V8 has Goodyear Duratracs with 45,000 on them , they have been good all-around tires and very good in snow AND on ice but seem kind of squirlly on the highway due to tyeflimsy sidewalls. I will replace those with Wildpeaks with the XL load rating in the spring cause we use the 4runner to tow our 20 foot travel trailer. My son also bought a set of Wildpeaks for his 02 4runner and he's happy, needless to say, I like them. Mitch

Just put them on my truck a week or so ago.

Great tires, but expensive compared to other options.

I run Firestone destination A/T, like you I use my truck at hunting camp. The firestone's have been good for me.

Go with the Michelin, had them on my Ranger 4x4 and got 65K out of them. Went to a more aggressive tire and lost 3 mpg, noisy ride, worse handling and half the total miles. Can't wait for my Taco tires to run out so I can put them on (265/75/16).

Just got back from a month in the WY wilds in a Silverado Z-71 with Defenders; in mud, snow, all dirt or gravel roads in places where only 4x4 would get you and the tires were never the limiting factor.

Coopers AT3 aren't bad. Depends what your offroad consists of. I've had a few friends run those tires and they get your pretty far and have a thick sidewall

    Edit

It was the st Maxxx that they had

I went with the Michelin Defender LTX tires. So much quieter with new tread and being a road tire.
