    2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road
Hello. I am interested in purchasing a wheel and tire package for my 2016 tacoma TRD off road. My stock tire and wheel size is 26570R16. I would like to purchase the Falcon Wildpeak A/T3W in the same size, and the 16"x8 granite alloy GA640 wheels. However, there is a warning during checkout on Tire Rack under the wheels that says "Aggressive fitment. Vehicle should have lift kit or fender modifications for proper clearance." My truck is stock but the TRD off road comes with a small aftermarket lift kit. Will this wheel and tire combo be a problem for my truck? I selected stock tire sizes while shopping.

    See screenshots attached.

    Thank you!

This is contradictory. Is your truck stock, or do you have a lift? The TRD Off Road does not come with a lift, but you say you have an aftermarket lift. You need to clarify this for a proper answer, but also keep in mind that there are variations truck to truck and tire to tire. What fits one truck may not fit the next even if it's the same tire size on the sidewall.

I had that issue on my Tundra. I bought the Wildpeak AT3Ws in the same size as another member with the same suspension, but his tires were Nitto Ridgegrapplers. Well, the Falkens were about 1/4 inch larger and I had rubbing that he did not. Just because somebody here says your fine it is still never more than a 90% surety.

All that said, the tires will not be the issue. The offset of the wheel is. Stock should be around a +25mm offset and those wheels are a +01mm offset. That is pushing your wheels and tires out almost a full inch. You may hit your mud flaps or bumper when turning full lock, especially in reverse.

When I had larger tires installed at Discount Tire, they told me that if they rubbed too much, I could bring them back and they would install the next size down free of charge. Really great company.

The tires are the same size as stock. The issue, if there is one, will be from the more negative offset from the new wheels.

What does the "especially in reverse" part mean? Do the components have enough play that they rock forward when a reverse force is put on the truck? Wouldn't similar rub occur in either drive direction? Genuinely curious - may have been discussed elsewhere, just never came across...

Oh I see. I skimmed too fast lol. I'm assuming you're getting the message because it's a wider wheel with lower offset, although there are a ton of people on here running 16x8 +0. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm not enough of a mechanic to know the why, but it is more common to rub at full lock in reverse. I thought the same as you when I was told that, but when I upsized on my Tundra I only rubbed when backing and turning. Forward at the same steering angle did not produce the rub. :notsure:

Must be where the infamous "I hear a knock in my front suspension when I hit a bump" comes into play lol...

I had -10 offset on 8.5" wide wheel with stock tires and I was no where close to rubbing on stock suspension.

They are just covering their butt in case they rub.

I got the same message from Canadawheels.ca when I upsized to 255/80/17 Wildpeaks.

    No issues....

Just an FYI, Discount Tire and TireRack are the same company.

Firstly, I'd recommend using google / preferred web search. Just start with "Tacomaworld" and enter whatever you'd search for. I think better results than our search here.

I'm not totally sure what to look for on this subject. I'd seen it mentioned a few times throught life here (thus my joke). Maybe front suspension knock sound, bump sound, ... similar. I had it very modestly on my 2013, moreso after 6 or 8 years. And definitely when turning and hitting bumps in the road. Didn't cause me issues or alignment worries. Maybe it was something swaybar, almost sounds familiar.

Probably not an issue if you can't feel any play when shaking pieces by hand. If it "seems" bad enough to you, start a new thread and let the diagnostic party begin. We'll have you spending money in no time...

I run Falcon Wildpeak A/T3W 265 75 R16 on a totally stock 2019 SR5, no problem. No rub. America's Tire offered to install one just to check for rubbing before installing the remaining 3.

Can you post a pic of your truck? I’ve got an SR and am trying to decide if I should go with new wheels or not.
