I saw a few similar posts, but either didn't see a solution, or slightly different from my problem. So...

Recently got new tires at a local installer. They put the OEM TPMS into the new tires. On the drive home, noticed that I had the --- for all 4 tires on my display. Did the reset button, drove the specified distance and speed. Still no pressure displayed.

Went back to tire dealer. They reprogrammed. They could see each sensor and the tire pressures. Did the reset again, drove, nadda. They suggested that I take it to the local Toyota dealership since they "sometimes have problems with resetting Toyota sensors."

Took it to dealership. Same deal as above. After a reprogram, --- for all tires on display, but could see all sensors and pressures on their programmer. They asked me to come back latter so they could dig into it further. Sigh*

One last note. Went on a hunting trip. Aired down tires from around 35 PSI to about 25 PSI while I was on logging roads. Low pressure light came right on on my display. So it seems like there is some communication, but no pressures displayed.

Any ideas before I take another trip to the dealership?

I'm running stock tires / wheels and my display still says ---. It has been like that for almost a year

I think I may have seen your post concerning this. Was it not a warranty issue for you?

I've had this happen twice. once after a tire repair and once after new tires. had to drive double the amount the manual recommends. even then its a little slow to read for about a week.

They broke your TPMS sensors. Happened to me at my 5k service and the dealer tried to get me to pay for it. They worked up until I dropped the truck off, and stopped working when I picked it up. It was a stupid battle, but they finally made it right.

That's a strange one if the sensors and pressures are being "seen". The low pressure light on the dash is a separate function from the corner read-outs. Not sure why, but a complete re-program might be needed. They (Dealer) will have to tear down the tires/wheels to get the ID number and location of each sensor. I've had mine done twice. They'll charge you about 150 if they won't warranty it.

Sounds just like my situation. I guess the tire dealer would be on the hook for replacing the sensors.

I had a similar issue after replacing mine. I ended up manually entering the codes into each position via tech stream which is what Toyota uses to program the TPMS>

Go to discount tire have them replaced with some aftermarket ones way cheaper and they should be able to reprogram them to the truck . I did this on my dodge with aftermarket ones worked great .

A handheld trigger tool will read the ID numbers of the installed sensors by pointing the tool at the valve stem. No need to tear down the tires.

Did you, or your installer, reset the TPMS system?

The sensors read more than pressure and the extra signals are used to determine tire location. It seems the extra signal functions go down much easier than the transmitter and pressure function. This means the truck won't be able to determine location and won't display readouts for each corner but still knows pressures and will illuminate a low pressure warning if needed.

Two options to fix. 1. Replace the TPMS sensors. 2. Override the location finding operation by manually programming in the locations with techstream. After this, don't hit the TPMS reset or the problem starts over.

Im kinda confused... if the tire pressure doesnt show up on the screen, then why am I getting a low tire pressure light? I don't know if my sensors are broken or if there is something wrong electronically. I manually checked my tire pressure and they're all between 29-31.

Have you tried to reset(with the button) like ShirtTucker and Shimstack said?

Like said earlier, the tire pressure reading and the low tire pressure light seem to run off different sensors. I just had this happen to me after getting new wheels and tires installed.

I filled my tires to 32 psi, did the reset procedure with the button under the dash, then drove about 10 miles over 50mph and they started reading fine. Although they do always seem to be 3-5psi off from all of my psi gauges.

I’ve been trying to do that all morning and it just finally went away. Luckily, the light went away but the tire pressure still isn’t showing which means the sensors are still working.

something electronically probably broke and I have no idea what it could be

Let me try to explain again.

Your truck is reading the pressures on all four sensors just fine. It knows if one drops below the low limit threshold and will illuminate the indicator light.

Your truck does NOT know which sensor is in which wheel. It just knows 4 exist and what pressures they are reading. If it can't rectify WHERE they are it won't display the pressures on the info screen.

Your TPMS is reading pressures just fine. It is not getting the other signals properly such that it can identify their locations.

Or drive it a couple miles and should read your pressures. Push the button in this the tire light flashes. Couple seconds then it goes out.
