I got duratracs on sale. They came with howling noise but I guess all aggressive tires do. Otherwise love them.

I will. I have heard they were really soft. Do you think they will be thinner than the stock GY Adventure?

I think I'm going to add this tire to the list. There are too many people running these not to give them a look. The tire looks nice.

I'm not sure about that, but the sidewall on the load range C Duratracs are really thin.

They do look good, but I don't see them in a C load tire.

I keep reading this and seeing this occasionally on forums.....yet the Duratrac's load C seem to have really positive feedback. Who knows anymore. This search has grown frustrating to the point where I am just going to keep trucking on with the OEM Goodyear Kevlars until they can't reliably do what I need them too. Really overall they have been a great tire to date in all conditions except really thick and deep desert clay mud.

Therein lies my problem - thick clay and mud. And, my tires only have just over 2500 miles on them and are like new so I could sell them for a decent enough amount to offset the costs of a more aggressive tire. Then again, I may be forced to wait until I get my howling rear diff issue addressed because I don't want Toyota to say "it's your tires" when I know it's not.

They are not - darn it! :). There is also a big tread difference between the P rated SL tire and their E tire. I guess I'll check this one back off my really small list now.

I personally have Toyo AT2's in 265/75/R16 C load, 45lbs a piece. I love my tires! Good traction in rain, mud, and dry pavement. Can't speak to snow. Recently had to pull an 70mph lane change mavuver to avoid being hit, and truck didn't even come close to feeling like it was going to tip. Lift was needed to clear this tire size, but only .5". Took a hit on mpg, but speedo is spot on, as verified by radar signs. Little noisy at highway speeds, but I regular drive 80. Depending on your lift setup, another option is bfg KO2's in D load 275/70/r16. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how many miles you have on the toyos, but after 25 to 30k they get really loose in the rain. 285 55 20 extreme at2. Granted that is on a 4.0 2nd gen with the Trd blower. We might not have as many probs with the 3.5 motor. I personally think the bfg's are a better performing tire all around and the size you mentioned in D load will be going on my '17 when it needs tires.

Well my tire plans are on hold until my howling rear diff gets looked at when my 5K service times gets here. There is no way I'm letting Toyota blame the rear diff noise on the tires! I'm around 3500 miles now. However, does anyone out there have any experience with the General Grabber X3 in C load range? Also, Yokohama is dropping a new Geolander G003 that looks nice. I know the Grabber X3 has it's own thread but a lot of those tries are E rated tires and I'm only interested in a "one up" size of 265/75/16. I still haven't looked at the Falken. I'm curious but really want something that is leaning more towards a hybrid tire like the Duratracs.

Falken wildpeak at3w 265/75/16.. I parked next to another OR taco the other day and the new tires slightly fills in the wheel well a little more than the GY the OR comes with. Still messing around with the PSI to see what works best for me.. IMG_4644.jpg IMG_4654.PNG.jpg

OK so I'm bumping this thread for another wrinkle. Maybe I should start another thread but we have enough on tires already. I'm sick and tired of trying to find a SL or C rated aggressive AT tire not named Duratrac (good tire but I like choices) so I'm considering changing to 17" wheels. What if any difference will it make as far as ride and wheeling? Is the 265/70/17 (max size for stock suspension) going to fill out the wheel well as good as the 265/75/16? I'm all but sold on the Pro style wheel (I know everyone has them) so is the OEM wheel the best or should I go with the FN FX TRD Pro? Thanks and sorry for all the questions but I'm done with trying to get a 16". Peace.

I had plans of 255/85/16 Cooper St Maxx but this thread is swaying toward some more tame options. Do the 255 Es really kill the trucks that bad?

if you drive in snow ever, duratracs are amazing. I've been running duratracs for ages through some pretty gnarly offroad, started with 265/75r16, and am now using 315/75r16. great in everything I've used them for, but especially good in snow.
