TIRE Help - What's The Best Aggressive AT C Load Range 265/75/16?

    I found the Falken Wild Peak AT3w in LT 265/75-16 E load range, and in P 265/75-16.

    With this particular tire, would the P tire be a bad choice for light off road and light towing.... I mean better or worse than the stock GY Kevlar?

    If I could get a P rated tire I would. I mostly have sticky clay and mud to contend with. I really can't find that many in a P for the size I want so I'm looking for the next best thing and that is a C. It really depends on what you want to do. If you plan on rock crawling or using the truck in a rocky terrain then steer clear of a P rated tire if you can. That Falken to me looks like a good tire. Some people have complained of premature wear on them while others say they have been great. I like the look of the tire and many are pleased with them. An E for me is too much added weight and stiffness. I have read many threads on here where guys are getting out of their E rated tires to go down to something lesss stiff.

    I think you would be fine with the Falken.

    Looking at the specs... the P tire has 4mm less tread depth than the LT tire. That's a deal breaker for me.

    Yep, I forgot that about the Falken. You may find that in other tires as well. It pays to research in the end and get what works for you. For me, I have had E rated tires before and don't want that again. They are too heavy and are clearly excessive for my needs. I like a P rated ride but a C is basically the same with a little better sidewall.

    I have been doing more research on this. Looks like I am going to have to size up from OEM as well to get my C rated all terrain. For my needs I have it narrowed down to the LT265/75/16 Load C Goodyear Duratrac at 43.38lbs and the Toyo Open Country AT II at 45 lbs.

    I will be narrowing my feedback review to these two tires going forward as they are the lightest LT265/75/16 Load C tires with an aggressive look I have been able to find. The Duratrac is the most aggressive of the two but the Toyo has stellar reviews as does the Duratrac.

    I will just have to learn to adjust to my speedo and mpg display being a bit off unless I want to install the hyper tech speedometer calibrator.

    Are these the P 265 or the LT 265 E rated?

    I didn't read through the rest of the thread to see if this was brought up but check out the Goodyear Authority from walmart.

    I just put them on mine after hearing an overwhelming amount of positive reviews on them. People saying they perform better than duratracs for a fraction of the price. 265/75/16 for right around $140/tire

    Those are two good tires and remember with the Toyo AT2 they also make an AT2 Extreme version but I have not looked to see if they offer it in a C rated tire.

    I did look at the Toyo Xtreme version in that size. Unfortunately I is an E rated tire in that version.

    Now that I have officially been drawn into this thread by "Mmmmm.... Tires" :drool:

    I looked at the ones on my TRDOR because I wasn't sure what they were rated. Turns out they are P tires as well. If they rate the stock towing capacity at 6500lbs with Passenger Good Year Kevlars, then I'm not so worried about putting P tires back on in a more aggressive tread.

    I was looking around and recall that once I had some Firestone Destination A/Ts on a Jeep. They were pretty good tires that wore well and did a relly decent job off road. They are not as aggressive as some of the tires discussed here... but another option.

    It just depends on your needs for sure. My son has these on his Cherokee Trailhawk and they haven't given any issues. They are no more aggressive than my stock GYs so for me this wouldn't work. A P rated tire for me would work but I won't shy away from a C if for no other reason they have more tread in many tire choices.

    After looking all over....I am still amazed at the lack of Load C rated tires in the 265/70/16 size? I want to stay OEM size on my TRD OR but looks like I am going to be forced to move up to 265/75/16 to get a C rated tire.

    Unreal how there is a gap in the market here. What is the reason for this? Poor sales? I am assuming market demand is not there.

    265/75/16 KO2s, SR5 Grille, TRD Pro skid plate, Husky X-Act Contour floor mats, Carhartt front seat covers, de-stickered, partially de-badged, Bilstein 5100s with one inch rear block
    You would think there would be a market with all the new Tacos being sold with OEM tires in that size.

    Little trucks can run an E rated tire. It's just a little uncomfortable. A big truck cannot safely run a C rated tire. Tire companies save money by making them in one load range that any truck can run.

    Exactly! One would think with how popular these trucks area. Or maybe everyone just wants to size up and I am the lone person that is happy with the truck OEM other than I want a more puncture resistant tire that is not Load E 10 ply. Only other option I have found at OEM size is the Hankook Dynapro AT-M and it is on Load range D at 48 lbs! That is over 12 lbs heavier (per tire) than a stock Goodyear Wrangler with Kevlar.

    Not yet and I am going to talk to a General dealer next week so I will update everyone then. I am amazed as well at the lack of options. I don't want an E rated tire. I don't need it and don't want the stiffer ride.
