Like an idiot, I let Tire Discounters do an alignment on my Taco - I got a good price on the 4 Michelins and thought, why not, they advertise "free".

Needless to say, it pulled left, the camber was way off and the toe was way off as well.

Guess I learned my lesson on that.

Discount Tire stores are a hit or a miss. The DT in my town is actually pretty legit

Just throwing in my 2cents. I took it to these jokers 3 times. The first time I wasn't there and the shop that put on my lift sent my truck off to them to align it. Wasn't correct, pulled to the left, and they never gave me a printout.

The second time the tech took a great deal of time to try and convince me he couldn't adjust my eccentrics because the tabs were bent and that I needed a new LCA to correct the problem. Spoiler alert: the alignment tabs are welded to the frame.

The third time I told them to try and hit 3deg on caster if they can. They took that to mean hit 3deg and fuck the rest of the specs. I came out of there with major toe and 2deg of camber on both sides.

Tire Discounters and Discount Tire are different chains.

if the alignment was free, you got what you paid for. Find a good shop, pay for an alignment, then make them do it right.

It's not free. You just don't pay directly for the alignment. They included the charge in the cost of the tires.

And besides, if you agree to do a job, I expect you to do it right. Free or not.

i'd suspect the same, and wonder how the OP got a good price, assuming he did some shopping around.

It drives me crazy when people in shops are like, "Hey it's a free service you can't complain". If you just DGAF, don't offer the service.

^I wonder if you buy tires there, get a "free" alignment, then experience abnomal tire wear due to the bad alignment job, would they warranty the tires?
