Got these tires from Walmart a bit over a year ago and recently they have started blooming pretty bad. I had no idea what was even going on until I stumbled upon this term while frantically googling "WHY TIRE BROWN???"

Before, these 2 are the best and worst looking of the 4

After some minimal research I did the following:
    • Quick wash with soap & water
    • Picked up some PurplePower degreaser to remove the oxidation. I started out spraying the brush and scrubbing, but this took many passes & more scrubbing. Instead, I tried spraying directly onto the tire (while wet) and let it soak for about 30s-1m.
      • Note: PurplePower says on the bottle to not use on rims, so I did my best to avoid overspray, wipe off excess, and wash well afterwards. In the future I would probably not use it, but these tires were so bad and I tried with other products first.
    • Scrub tires with moderate force with a tire brush, let sit another 30s.
    • Rinse clean.
    • Quick wash rims with soap & water.
    • Hit rims with some wheel cleaner, I used some shitty Jay Leno Garage Wheel Cleaner I had lying around.
    • Rinse and dry everything.
    • Once tires were dry I hit them with a couple layers of shitty Armor All Tire Shine. (I have since picked up some Meguiar's Hot Shine that I will use next time.)

The after photos look a little wet because they were and I was running out of daylight xD

This seemed to work pretty well, and according to the internet as long as you keep them protected it shouldn't happen as bad. Hopefully this helps someone, let me know of your feedback or what products you would recommend instead.

I think you're better off leaving the rubber alone to do it's thing, I had Goodyears that did this badly, never hurt performance or tire life, for me....

Honestly it looked bad enough to bother me, but what pushed me over the edge was parking next to my boss's new Rivian... I just felt dirty

Not being snarky. It give your truck character and matches your paint. Personally, I laugh internally every time I pass a truck with the glossed up tires.

I use meguires tire gel and apply maybe every other wash depending how they are looking (how long I go between washing and never have this problem. 4-6 times a year probably

Polishing truck tires is like polishing the bottom of your shoes.

I had my tires mounted on my new wheels and the shop threw some tire shine on it to "clean it up" a bit before they handed it off to me. I honestly hate the shiny tire look, planning to just go to the car wash after work to spray it off because it is bothering me so much lol

I not bashing on trying to save cash, I get it… but I would avoid Walmart and some of the cheapo places for tires. Few years back there was some articles on places like Walmart selling old stock tires that had been sitting for years
    I know
It’s sucks paying so much for tires, but one of those things you don’t want to skimp on

Holy crap. I’m headed to the car wash to get the dirt off my tires to see if I have this issue.

OP, did you wear out your stock tires in one year?

Yeah, it's just like those lifetime warrantied starters and alternators from Autozone that fail within hours or weeks of being replaced. But at least you have a warranty.

I would second the vote for simple green. I have used that stuff on just about everything.

Some tire shine products will stain and discolor tires over time. Im a detailer and I see this happen all the time.

Edit: Use a tire cleaner to clean your tires. Tire shine just adds to the mess and its bad for the clearcoat if it slings up onto the body.
