For those with tinted windshields, did you see an improvement, worsening, or no change, specifically with glare from lights at night? I have a degenerative cornea disease that makes me see a ton of glare when driving at night depending on conditions and am trying to improve that.

I've never messed with tinting the windshield because its entirely "not allowed" in my state but at this point I dont care anymore. Are there some brands/makes of film that are better than others specifically for this?

I have been looking around for 2 days now trying to come to a definitive answer to this question, but the majority of windshield tint questions are about general night time visibility. It seems a 70% tint has very little affect on general night time visibility, but what about glare from streetlights, headlights, traffic lights, etc?

I have all my vehicles windshields tinted at 50%, but on my 4runner I did 35% and do not experience any glare. I did have a Honda civic before the 4runner and experienced a horrible glare from any light source. I went back to the shop, and he re-tinted the windshield. He wasn't sure why that happened, but he did fix the issue.

Local tint shop here said any windishield tint (was looking at 90%, mostly clear) may give halos or other artifacts.

Have you tried a set of polarized sunglasses? Or even just non-tinted polarized lenses. Polarization is supposed to help immensely with glare and it can be done with minimal tinting.

^This. Try yellow shooting glasses first before going the tint route.

My windshield is very lightly tinted with 3m ceramic and it doesn’t do anything for night time driving.

Also depending on the lighting you get some moire artifacting at times when wearing polarized sunglasses

Any "hunting filter" option when you wear glasses? My clip-on sunglass work well enough if the sun is not directly in my face but if there is a better option ...

I get night glare from astigmatism. My vision is otherwise good. The only fix was prescription glasses.

Mine is tinted w/ 50% and while I really don't notice a glare(better or worse), it definitely didn't improve nightime vision. I have had tinted windshields for years though, as dark as 20%, so I'm pretty used to it

70% Suntek CIR on the windshields of both of my vehicles. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference for any glare that I've noticed. It's pretty much undetectible that it's there from the inside. Very subtle from the outside as well. Regarding legality, I have had it for years and gotten tickets for the side windows but cops have never said anything about the shield.

I actually prefer clear glasses when shooting. The yellow shooting glasses are strictly for night driving where they significantly cut down the glare from oncoming headlights.

I also have astigmatism and tinted the windshield of my weekend car.

Not try to help with glare, but because I'm a big dork and thought very light tint all the way around would look cool.
    The light effects are worse.

I have 3m ceramic, 70%, and can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in glare. Maybe there was, but not enough for me to notice personally.

I found that tint needs to be at 40% or below to have any glare help effect...but I find that percentage too dark for country road driving.

3M Crystalline 60% is darkest I'll ever go as it helps with heat. But even then, it doesn't help much with glare.

I tinted my windshield with XPEL ceramic tint, clear, and no glare during day or night driving.

The cost is less than $200, and the tint can be removed if it turns out you don't like it after all.

Do not do that. Get you some lightly tinted sunglasses to wear at night. I do sometimes. Helps a ton in rain or snow.

I did a subtle tint on my windshield and love it. I don’t have any eye issues just wanted to minimize the brightness/flare when driving into sun. No issues at night either. Just my 2 cents..

I had all of my windows at 20% and the windshield was whatever legal was for the sides. I want to say 35% but that seems too dark. Night driving in dark areas and the rain at night sucked big time.

For your question why not just look out the back window and night and see how the headlights look. Or if your side windows are tinted do the same test.

I don’t really recall any halos back when mine was tinted. It was great during the day though.

Halos happen when you get older.

I think I picked up the halo word from a different post. I was thinking halos due to the tint.

I used to play Halo when it first came out. Loved that game.
