Tint on windshield

my my new Tacoma didn’t have the front windows or windshield tinted when I bought it but tinting was included so I had to bring it back to the dealership for them to do it. They applied it yesterday but I’m feeling like the windshield tinting is really low. Is this standard? My old Tacoma had the front windows tinted but I don’t even recall any windshield tinting. If there was it definitely wasn’t splitting my sight line like this one.

 

Seems pretty standard . If you want it higher you need to let the installer know .

 

As long as it isn’t below the little as1 line you’re good to go, you should see some type of marking on the edges of window either a little line or it says as1. If not it’s typical 5 or 6 inches

 

Looks way too low to me.

The tint on my 1st gen doesn't even go below the top of the rear view mirror.

That would be in my wife's eye line, and she's 5'1"

 

Tint does look low imo.

They'll gladly fix it when you present them with a safety concern, and possible inspection issues. In many states it wouldn't pass inspection.

 

Im waiting on the manager to call me back. They only have the tint guy there on Tuesday and Thursday so they were like you can bring it on sept 6. I waited 4 hours for it yesterday and had to drop it off at 7am. Really wish I wouldn’t have bought from this dealership.

 

No doubt the tint is past the AS1 arrows which is illegal in most States including Florida. I'm surprised the dealership is willing to risk the liability if you have an accident and claim the windshield tint affected your visibility.

I would pressure the dealership to at minimum replace the tint while you wait, by the way 9/6 is a Monday so if the tint guy is only there on Tuesday and Thursdays why is the tint problem not being corrected on Tuesday August 31st ?

I would then let the dealer know that this has been an inconvenience and I would then suggest something to compensate me such as a free oil change.

 

You can peel it off easily, then take it back to have reinstalled properly. Of course confirm with dealer first they will pay for reinstall.

 

I had mine done that way purposely and its great. Does it not block some sun?

 

Should of just taken it to a local tint shop. Why use a middle man and pay more?

 

no it was included with the vehicle but absolutely I should’ve gone to the tint guy I’ve used before.

It does but the line is directly in my line of sight so I either have to hunch over or extend my head up to not see half tint and half not.

I just had Llumarc IRX tint done by a local shop a couple of weeks ago and skipped the strip on the front windshield. They took a few $$ off the job, but I was more concerned about the look of the strip and potential interference with TSS. Reading this thread makes me glad I made that decision. You might consider just telling them to remove it.

 

I like mine. It’s like wearing sunglasses without putting them on lol. It serves it purpose. Did take some time to get use to it though.
