Hello I am new to this forum and new to owning a 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4wd V6 extra cab. The truck has 98000 miles on it and has the original timing belt. I think I would like to attempt to change the belt myself. Is there step by step instructions( like a service manual) somewhere on this forum? I did a search and was unsuccessful.
    Thank you,
    Otto

I not sure if there are instruction or not however the tech manual link is on this site under the 1st gen forum I think. There should be instructions there. Make sure you changer the water pump, Idler bearing, thermostat and all the other belts when your in there. I bought a kit off of ebay that had all this and had the dealership do it. It was not much more in labor to have it all done when they were changing the timing belt. Good move changing the belt. Preemptive vs reactive maintenance.

I used to have a a TRD supercharger on the Tacoma, converted back to NA when I bought the Tundra. The SC was tons of FUN!!!
Thanks for posting the link, as I'm planning on replacing the timing belt and water pump on my '96 pretty soon.

All the belts are the originals and still look good, but being almost 17 years old and at 107k miles, don't want to press my luck too much further.

Looks like a time consuming job, but not too tough. For a couple hundred $ in parts and a day under the hood, sure beats what a dealership would charge to do it.

I ordered all the belts, water pump and idlers, etc. from Arizona Autohaus, but my project has grown since then ... leaking coolant from the right bank head now, so I need to replace the head gaskets too [IMG]

Good thing I hadn't started the repairs yet ;)
