Can anyone tell me what the P/N is for the cotter pin holding the castle nut in place where the tie rod attaches to the wheel hub assembly? Thanks.

Was my first thought, but I have the kind of luck where none of those would fit.

By the time I know which one I’ll have the suspension apart, so I’d rather just get the correct P/N knowing it’ll cost more.

Looks like that’s for the LBJ, might be a little bigger.

Maybe? The one I listed also says “Outter Tie Rod”.
I was just going of this diagram:confused:

It’s funny because the diagram has the P/N I posted. They’re only a digit apart. Whatever, it’s probably the same damn cotter pin. I could probably use a paper clip.

OCD is a powerful disease. But I found two on eBay for 99 cents apiece so I’m good.

Yeah, I just bought a whole assortment.
Like you said, it doesn’t have to be “perfect”.

About .97c online not included shipping.
I’m guessing $1.50 at the dealership?

Curious what Toyota would charge for a cotter pin. When looking for bolts/nuts (qty of 2 ea) to go back to stock after removing differential drop the dealership wanted around $25... went to a local fastener wholesale store and got the same fasteners in grade 8 for a grand total of $5.

99 cents even from the dealerships’ online parts people. Plus shipping of course.

Please tell me you're not actually going to the dealer for a cotter pin

If it was within 15 minutes, sure I would why not? Then I don’t have to guess on size. Plus it’d save money over an assorted pack.

But it’s 45 minutes away so I just bought a couple on eBay.

My local fastener wholesaler has a $25 minimum. Meaning they’ll sell me one 25c bolt for $25, or 100 25c bolts for $25. I think it has to do with accounting costs. To make a receipt, mail a bill, receive and deposit a check, they don’t make enough for 25c to cover those costs.

Op, in your need of one cotter pin, I agree with those saying to get an assortment. What I used to do is if I needed one of something like that, I’d buy 10. The idea being next time I’ll have it. Which would work if I were organized, I’m not. So that little baggie of 9 cotter pins is swimming somewhere in my garage. Do I spend and hour to maybe find it? No, I go buy 10 more. Next time, same drill. I gave up on that plan. Now If I need 1, I might buy 1 or 2.

No wonder the cost of gas is going up, we've got UPS and Fed Ex driving around delivering single cotter pins to people's doorsteps
