I’m wondering if anyone is having the same problem, every time a I go over a speed bump it feels like the front shocks are bottoming out and it feels like a thump , it doesn’t happen if I go super slow but at a regular speed it happens every time. TRD OR

There’s an internal bump zone built into the shock, basically as you get closer to bottoming out it gets much stiffer, but keeps compressing, in a Icon suspension video they demonstrate the bump zone and it comes on quite abruptly, it may be what you’re feeling.

Is this only an issue on the Trd off-road?

My 2019 offroad went through several of the stock bilsteins just by driving down our dirt FS road with the tires aired down at moderate speeds. I would have welcomed a simple thump.

I think it’s a design flaw I hit a speed bump and got the same thunk. I’ve seen a couple of the shocks fail on 4G on other forums. I saw someone said Toyota is working on it but I’m not sure how true it is

X4 It’s not a good feeling and happens too easily. The front doesn’t seem too soft at speed, but going slow (under 15mph) it’ll bottom like nobody’s business. I almost bought King coil overs, but don’t want to lose ride comfort and they’re too expensive.

It seriously scared the hell out of me the first time. As soon as it happened I knew exactly what it was and try to avoid it as much as I can. I’m waiting on Fox to release their stuff

Not at all. The circled part is supposed to be still in the shock. It all just popped up

One of the Youtubers, I think TRDjon mentioned in a couple videos what you described. Nothing was broken, just a quirk of the new front shocks. Stay tuned, someone here will come up with an alternative.

What speed are you hitting the speed bumps at? They are there to slow you down not to hit them at “regular speed”. Hitting them at “regular speed” may be a good way to damage your suspension. I would expect a thud, thump or bang at the very least.

It happens some times even if I go slow , the only way it doesn’t thud is if I slow completely down all the way
