I have a Thule Traverse roof rack from a previous vehicle. Unfortunately, the entire Traverse system has been discontinued.
The proper fit kit for the 3rd gen (kit 1827) is out of stock everywhere, but there are still lingering leftovers of the 2nd gen fit kit (kit 1511) available.
2nd and 3rd gen have really similar door and roof lines. I've read of people putting the 1827 on a 2nd gen, but not a 1511 on a 3rd. Anyone tried it?

I’m in the same exact boat. (Or kayak lol) I think I’m gonna buy the 3rd gen rails that go along the roof of the doors and see how they fit. Any suggestions?

    OP,

Probably not the clear and direct answer that you are looking for, but it might not be a bad idea to call Thule directly and get technical help. The reason I say that is I have had a number of Thule products over the last 20 years and once I had a discontinued set but they found some for me in a parts warehouse. Also, over the years, I have pieced and patched together systems and you can always get replacement parts, etc. They really do have pretty good customer service.

That said, I got rid of most of my cross bars and am going to a roof rack system but wanted to pass that along. Still have my Thule roof boxes and those are pretty good. Certainly worth asking them what they advise ... As an aside, tons of Thule gear for sale on CL and FB Marketplace. Also worth poking around to find what you need ... you might get lucky !

    I hope that helps ... :)

Sooooo I am in this exact same boat also. I will be the tester on this clip. I went ahead and bought the fit kit 1511 to try on my 3rd gen and if it doesn’t work I can just sell the complete setup to a 2nd gen owner. If it works, I will still have a roof rack I can use. Has anyone already tried it yet?

How did the 1511 kit work out? I’ve been scouring for a 1827 with no success. Thule customer support tried but couldn’t deliver.

The 1511 works on 3rd gen. I just installed one.
