My mechanic did a check engine and it came up saying my Throttle body motor is not responding ( is there a motor inside the throttle body??????) and that I need to replace it which is how I found Tacomaworld. When looking for a replacement was told it was discontinued?? Found a used one on eBay and getting ready to change out this part but I am still confused about this whole scenario. It all started when my truck bogged out on me while driving up hill and when stepping on the accelerator nothing but a minute later back up and running, then the check engine light came on. Took another drive down the hill (very steep) and check engine light back off, but heading back up hill the same thing happened got my Tacoma back home ad now trying to understand what issues others have had. Please any info greatly appreciated. Aloha

Did he tell you what code it was? The throttle body does not have a motor inside it but it does have a few sensors on it which can go bad.
Idle air control valve (IAC valve)
    https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...,fuel+&+air,idle+air+control+(iac)+valve,6072

    https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,2001,tacoma,3.4l+v6,1375343,fuel+&+air,throttle+position+sensor+(tps),5136
And these are for V6. Idk what you got.
I’m not saying this is what you need. These are just the sensors that are on your throttle body that he was possibly referring to and not another “motor”. You should definitely try to see what code you’re getting.

Those won't do the OP any good. 03-04 TBs are different than 01-02. 03-04 are semi drive by wire. The TB doesn't have a IAC valve & the TPS is 4 wire (ours is 3 wire) & hard to find IIRC.

Starting in 03 they do have a motor for the throttle along with a traditional cable as sort of a back up. Loosely referred to as "throttle by wire.
That's along with a throttle position sensor and no Idle Air Control valve.

Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the correction.
Disregard my original reply OP. I’d still try to pull that code though.
