Apologies if this has been answered but I’ve not been able to find any information on my specific issue.

I have an 18 Trd off-road. when I turn my vehicle off and exit the truck, it beeps. This is NOT an issue of opening the door before the truck is off. I can turn it off and sit there for a few mins before opening the door and it still does this.

Additionally, after exiting the trick and closing the door the display reads “key fob not detected.” The truck beeps three times after closing the door. The truck at this time also will not allow me to lock it from the key fob. Sometimes this is 10-15 seconds, other times it can take a few mins.

I’ve replaced the key fob battery, so that’s not the issue.

Any help would be appreciated as I can’t find any Info about this.

Only 3 beeps? I'm pretty sure mine is cursing at me in electronic for a good 5 minutes. But mine doesn't misbehave that much - it's just annoying. Especially if I open the door and then shut it off. I've tested to see if that would ever end and I made it 3 minutes before I gave up.

It's hard to say without a tech stream. I believe if there's a key inside accidently it will beep loudly once, and obviously not show the key-not-detected.

It is possible it's not registering park properly, but you wouldn't be able to start it once you get in if it wasn't truly in park.

    Tough one.

You might try cleaning the contacts where the coin battery sits in the Fob. My Fob was acting flakey until I cleaned the contacts with steel wool.

This feels like some kind of “lingering power feed” issue. Like whatever tells the security system the truck is running, is still getting power even after the truck has stopped running. Like a circuit is missing a diode and back feeding another circuit. But I’m by far not an expert and have no idea on theory and operation of the door beeps lol.

I had one that was green fuzz death on a rear door causing an error signal, fucking miserable to diagnose. Not exactly the same but it cause no beep rather than 3.

That’s just about as hard as it gets haha. I am not envious of that. But, the relief of finding/ fixing is so rewarding I bet.

The three beeps is after the door is close, from the exterior (like the beep that tells you your doors are locked). The internal beeping will go on forever with the door open.

Sounds like a similar problem that I had...https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/smart-key-not-detected.512046/#post-16107361

Mine seemed like just a random glitch. Possible interference with phone or aliens? Post #62 in my thread seems to have a different solution. Hope you figure it out!

If you are saying your truck beeps 3 times with the engine off when closing the door, I would try unhooking the negative battery cable for a minute.

    stock, except for audio
This happened with my 2019 Tacoma yesterday. In my case the battery was significantly discharged, and I had the ignition switched to "accessory". Dumb I know. Anyway disconnecting the battery while giving it a full charge and then reconnecting it cleared the issue.

Could it be a class law suit for manufacture dumping too much complicated, unwanted technologies on their products? :smash:
