Saw this Tacoma on FB Market

    151k miles
Asking 14k, cut it to 12.5, offered him 10k.

truck looks in pretty good condition honestly. He sent me detailed videos of the frame and It looked solid. I would get an PPI for sure. Would Toyota do a PPI? he says that he needs a bigger truck. My question is, is 150k miles too many miles for a 20 year old truck? I know these are solid well made trucks, and I love this truck but something I’ve always considered was years and miles.I screenshotted the frame pics from the video, sorry they’re not too great. The majority of people with these trucks are well over 150k. If he has a somewhat decent service record I’d buy it for 10k for sure

Get some good daylight photos of that frame for sure. Where has it lived?
150k is def on the low end for a 1st gen.

In the northeast. It looks pretty good for the rust belt

Too good, really. That would be a 1 in a million if it’s legit that clean. Maybe a frame replacement, maybe a cover-up paint job … don’t get your hopes up and be extremely thorough poking around that frame.

I would definitely take a closer look at the frame. Mine has been in north Alabama all its life and his frame is still cleaner than mine.

This crossmember has been painted and is sus, major scaling under there. Need to see more of the frame but I have my doubts…

Oh man. Not a good sign. It’s like an hour away from me and might not even be worth the drive

Just get more pictures that aren't so blurry. Looks promising. It’s tough finding a clean Tacoma in the rust belt and sometimes a one hour drive, or a bunch of them, is what it’s gonna take to find a good one.

Well that thing is toast so the truck has certainly seen some salt. I’d see if the frame has been replaced. Get pictures of the rear differential, that thing might be very rusty.
