im considering doing the 3 inch strut spacer with the 4 inch spindle lift in the front with 4 inch blocks in the back.. Anyone try this? How does it ride?? Besides brake lines, is there anything else needed for this lift ?

    no... just no.

blocks and spacers are bout the dumbest thing you can do to lift a truck.

    Spindles IMO not much better.

Do a proper lift, with a proper AAL or full leaf pack and proper struts / coil overs in the front.

i've got maxtrac with 3'' spacer lift on top, rides fine imo, but I don't really offroad much. In the back you'll need longer/more travel shocks (bilstein 5100s are commonly recommended), and possibly a drive shaft spacer.

Nice!! Did you have to get a drive shaft spacer?

yes i did need it, my driveshaft was sticking out so much it worried me, but i did drive around for about a week with no problems or leaks

this is the only place i know of that sells it

    http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/DriveshaftSpacer.shtml#65mmx65mm

my rear set up is the all pro standard leafs (3'' lift) and a 2'' block with the extended bilstein 5100

How are spindles not much better than "just about the dumbest thing you can do to lift a truck"? They keep factory front end geometry as well as ride comfort while still allowing you to use stock shocks/struts until you decide to upgrade. Not to mention with him being only 19, spindles may also be the more affordable route at this time.

Aha exactly!! I'm more than likely going to go with the 3 inch level I already have and add the maxtrac spindle with it... For rear I'll take the advice and ditch the blocks and have to go with bilsteins.. As for a drive shaft spacer, I'll see how it will ride and if it will be necessary

the rear bilsteins won't give you lift, they only accomodate the lift, you still need something in the rear to level you out, if you can afford them i'd recommend the all pro expo leafs (4'' lift) and a small block, a cheaper route, not recommended by many would be an add a leaf, and a larger block (keep in mind most 6'' lift kits come with rear blocks)

You'd be happier doing just the spindle lift and replacing the leaf pack in the rear with something All Pro's expo pack.

Avoid strut spacers. Good way to snap a shock when you take the truck offroad - as the shock will bottom out before the lower control arm contacts the bumpstop.

Hmm alright sounds good!! I'm aware that you can only run spindles with at least a 17 inch wheel and no more than a 4.75 back space.. I'll be running either 18x12 or 17x9 Fuel Hostage with these.. Should look mean!' Appreciate the help guys

Correct, because you're essentially moving the center point of the axle/hub assembly away from the center of the wheel and towards the upper portion of the wheel.

That's the reason spindle lifts are not compatible with four wheel drive trucks - the CV axle has to stay in the center of the wheel (outside of portal hubs, but those are $$$$)

If your not running any added weight in the rear you can do all pro standard springs with a shackle flip kit and Jeep XJ shackles to give you 4.5" of lift and a nice soft ride. That is if you want that much lift. I'm more than likely not doing that but I don't want that much lift. As far as the front spindles are the way to go. I'd say run spindles and all pro springs with 5100's. You'll have 4" lift in the front and 3" in the rear. If you really want that much lift go with spindles, toytec coilovers, and light racing UCA's in the front. And all pro standard springs with 5100's and shackle flip with 1.5" XJ shackles in the rear. All pro expos will give you another inch of lift but they are designed for 500-600 pounds of extra weight in the rear so they will ride rough.

I think you can run 16s with maxtrac spindles.

Using a shackle flip to achieve lift is a quick way to ruin a set of leaf springs by allowing them to go into negative arch.

Well as of now my goal is to have at least 6 inches in the front .. I don't wanna go through all this trouble to just get one more inch in return.. A total of 7 is what I'm leaning to.. I'll for sure get my truck leveled with whatever 4 inch rear lift that I decide on! And as for off-roading, I rarely do that... It hurts to say this but I am indeed a pavement princess lol

Why not go the drop bracket lift route then?

It will maintain your factory ride (suspension wise, handling will of course change as you raise the center of gravity and add larger tires).

Not everyone buys a truck to beat on it, especially if it's their daily driver. It's really not all that bright of an idea.

I have (and continue to) build and beat the shit out of my truck - and I have paid the price for it over and over again.

In hindsight, a stock truck and a Polaris RZR would have been smarter.
