At age 16 when I started driving my Uncle let me use his spare truck, a '76 F250 4x4 that was complete with Marty McFly roll bar and four forward facing KC's and a rectangular something to the rear. I always found that light set up to produce too much light right in the vicinity or close to the cab and not worth much just in my opinion. Maybe these new style lights are better. I feel I can see plenty good with stock. Unless i go a expensive route with a bumper where they can be mounted lower and in front of the cab.

I have the lights on the hood as well . There is a kit you can add to the lights to reduce the glare from the hood . I think I paid 50 bucks for the lights , wiring , switch and fuse . The brackets holding the lights were 40 bucks . For under 100 bucks , you get a lot of light and you will see deer, cactus , coyotes , camels , kangaroos for miles :D
I think if I was to do it again , I may figure out a way to run the lights on the mirrors . The purpose of the light is to illuminate the ditch line and they work very well . Just the glare from the hood can be a pain . Keep that in mind

ONE OF YOU GUYS NEED TO GET CREATIVE AND HANG THESE LIGHTS OFF YOUR MIRRORS INSTEAD OF THE HOOD

I haven't had auxiliary lighting since I had my last CJ7 and put KC day lighters all over it. The hood mounted units seem like a decent way to get a few extra lumens offroading when you don't have an aux bumper or cabin rack.

After further consideration, looks like these are mostly "ditch lights" (new term to me) in that they give some illumination to the sides, and kinda wash out if you have them pointed over the hood. Makes sense. Looks cool, and I figured it was the new hotness for forward offroad observation.

Sometimes I forget that 80% of our population lives on the east coast.

Again, with the right optic - SAE driving, it can be used as a high beam with not a lot of glare.

Did you post a link to what you're running? If you didn't, mind posting it? I'll buy those lights.

Yup. SS3 sports. I changed to the SSc2 Pros.

Diode dynamics are the best in the game.

I ended up removing them. I put some clearwater lights on them instead. They make the best motorcycle aux lighting hands down..they make lots for trucks too. Pulled them off my bmw gs since it's up for sale

I think what he meant, is that you have posted 17k times, and sometimes it seems like you're just posting to get a post in, not knowing what you're actually talking about.

As someone who's been on forums since the BBS, ICQ and Telnet relays, generally speaking, nobody who has 17,000 posts has 17,000 posts worth of useful information.
