I am about to buy a used clamshell style camper. kinda like a goFastCamper. I am wondering if ya'll have advice on what i need to be doing / need to know.

I am buying some rubber gasket to go around the bed rails for a good seal from what ive read on the forums that necessary.

is there anything else? weight is about 350lbs so maybe some rear leafs?

    I appreciate any helpful input
    thanks

Pull up the bed rail caps, toss down some HD foil tape, and slap on some silicone RTV to seal it up, including the two front corners.

Also consider TG seal. RokBlocks has one:

Is it DIY? If not, say the brand. I’m not going to snag it out from under you, but I can then give you proper advice.

Weigh your truck with a full tank of gas and same stuff inside before and after. Then add your normal stuff (fridge, tools, gear, boats, bikes, et al) and then decide on a leaf pack.

If you don’t really off road, airbags may be better than leaves.

its from a small shop in canada, BF campers

do you know what threshold would require a leaf pack? i was just gunna load things up and measure the sag. i travel very light other than the shell itself i reckon.

thats good to know, airbags seem cool but i do hit the trails so think they're out of the question.
    thanks for your input JacksonLee

Out of curiosity, what’s up with that brand? There’s a guy selling one on Facebook and the camper just looks off.

a friend went up to fort collins and was working with the main guy for awhile. guess the main guy was making promises but never delivered. a lot of people ordered one, was told a delivery date, but that date kept getting pushed back. months go by, these people still never got their camper. sounds like getting a refund was a hassle because, like other topper companies, you pay in full then pick up months later. guess these people were paying cash?

theres an instagram account dont_buy_twindogs_campers https://www.instagram.com/dont_buy_twindogs_campers/ that started as their promotion account, but turned into posting people's experiences. some people went months without their camper and had to change their camping plans. some people couldn't get refunds. a couple people did get their camper, but workmanship is shoddy and its falling apart.

There is an account on here, https://www.tacomaworld.com/members/twindogsoverlandsupply.388848/ that hasn't been active since last year.

Seems the whole company just kind of disapeared

i guess if you're willing to work on it yourself and the camper is cheap enough, it could be a good buy.

Ah damn, that sucks but I’m not surprised. That seems to be happening more often with more start ups entering the game. The guy wants $4k but looks like it’s already falling apart hahah. Thanks for the info

You can still have air bags off road, use Daystar cradles under them

What brand is that, or is it a DIY? Would like to see some more pictures, those side panels look sweet
