Hello Everyone, 1st time posting on here. I am having an issue with coolant back flowing into my overflow bottle and out the weep hole by the bottle cap. I recently did a coolant drain & fill (radiator only), no issues prior. I was recently temporarily relocated from Huntington Beach to the Phoenix area, maybe the truck dislikes the weather as much as I do? I am thinking it may be a thermostat issue, can't find any info on its location. I did replace the radiator cap yesterday, same issue occurring. This truck has been trouble free since new, other than basic maintenance, haven't had to make any repairs in 11 yrs. Getting ready to hand off to my 16 yr old, just want to make sure everything is in working order. Thank you for any help.

The upper rad hose attaches to the therm housing on the front of the motor.
    Check search for replace thermostat.

Thats all I know as I haven't had to mess with mine yet.

Thank you Sparky, I picked up a new one last night and will swap out today. Still not sure why all my coolant is back flowing in and out of the over-flow bottle.

May just need a good burp. Raise the front end as high as you can, then turn heater on and start the truck. Keep topping the coolant level off.

not sure how to drain radiator only..................... not drain the block

U dont mention if engine/ on gauge is running hot or normal

the thermostat might need replacing yet im thinkin U might have an air gap in the block

this suggestion of a ' burp ' might help

How old is the radiator cap? Could be weak and need a new cap. If you have access to a parts store, and they have a radiator tester for rental, with the correct adapters, you could test your cap.

FWIW, this is a 3 year old post.
The guy asking about TQ Specs is totally different guy from OP.
Yeah, just asked his question in a 3 year old thread.

Didnt know posts had an expiration date...if only the search function were better, apologies for the grave offense. Thank you for the link, regardless.

I tried to search torque specs alone, but this was the only thread I could find that was t-stat specific...

Certainly hope the OP got it sorted 3 years ago.

Tight, but not too tight. Tight like you are using your right hand without the index finger turning a ferritic stainless steel fork jammed in a shower drain with enough force to bend the second and third teeth on the fork.

If I ever feel the need to jam a fork in a shower drain, I know who to call.
