Just ease of setup. The Roofnest is 20 seconds. They also didnt have a tent that i wanted to upgrade (again) to. Otherwise I would have stayed with them.

I did have overhang. The M49 is 7" longer than the long bed. FSR is an awesome company, with awesome customer service too.

Has anyone mounted a RTT on your cab (instead of your bed)? I have a DCLB with an aluminum high rise shell that cannot support a RTT with people. I plan to mount a RTT on my Frontrunner rack on my cab to sleep 2 people in the tent and 2 people in the shell (family of 4 adventure mobile).

I've seen some people do it but in my opinion, it looks really weird to have an RTT on the cab of a truck...they look oddly out of place to me. Looks good on T4Rs but not trucks. But that's just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...

Also over the cab is probably the worst place for one as far as hurting your MPGs and overall stability of your truck (center of gravity and all). Over the bed helps spread the weight out more and having weight over the bed is good for traction as well.

Could you possibly look into a bar/rack system that goes around your aluminum shell that could support the RTT?

actually with the shell on the bed I think it works with the RTT on the cab...in my head I was picturing the trucks with cab mounted RTTs and an empty bed, which looks weird to me. But with a shell back there it helps balance it out, like a T4R or SUV.

I can see the RTT on the cab look strange with an empty bed but the RTT would sit very high on my shell (which would also kill MPG more and cause higher CG).

100% agree about it looking weird with nothing over the bed, and im still not 100% sold with the softtop on the rear, I don't mind it as much. Definitely note that your MPGs ** can ** drop fast. Taking i70 from Moab to i15 to head to Vegas was rough. At elevation + the extra camping weight + headwind + the brick on the roof did not help my mileage. It was definitely slowing me down and burning more fuel with the tent up top. On the daily trips around town or on trips closer to home, I don't notice the MPG difference too much.

I didn't have many issues feeling tippy on the road (on a trail, it does make me worry a bit more about adding that extra weight up top).

I may end up switching back to a soft RTT and putting it back over the bed.

In your case, if you have the cash, I'd look into getting a quote from a fabricator to build an interior cage for the shell to support the RTT (a rack on the inside of the shell where the RTT bolts to the rack, sandwiching the shell material between it). Thats the route I'd probably go if I had a shell and wanted the RTT on top, assuming its not crazy expensive to do.

I’ve got the regular not the xl. I would suggest going with the 2in queen topper. The 3in is almost too much to close up. If it was 2, I’d feel a lot better about folding it up with the bedding.

    Oh man that is nice!

I got the regular as well. That's good to know. 2in queen and closing up is great. That gives you over 4 in total right? I was thinking if it was 3in, I'd have to store it in another container. Thanks for the info!

Awesome. How much? I looked on website. Very interested but not sure if I’m even in the neighborhood price wise.

I have the Tepui Autana 4 Sky. Love it, but takes 8 minutes to put up. Having a family sleeping it in requires the space. This would be great for 1-2 people.

Does anyone know if there's any good sales/discounts for RTTs during black Friday or holiday season? Not sure if I should buy now or wait?... budget is $900-1400. Thanks in advance.
