Thank you! I'm still flip flopping between the Bachelor and the Shasta. There's about a $450 difference between them for 8" of extra sleeping width + an annex.

Basically the Bachelor is a "full" width and the Shasta is just shy of a "queen" width (by about 2 inches).

I can't speak for the Bachelor, but my wife and I plus our dog love the Shasta. It's a great size, and we appreciate the extra room for when we're moving around up in there. Plus it makes it easier for just hanging out or playing card games lol. Ours is also the extended, which we've loved for getting in and out of it in the rain. My .02!

Thanks for all of the help! I'll be joining the RTT club this weekend. Got a CVT Shasta Standard in OD Green waiting for pickup. Couldn't be more excited.

Had an issue with my RTT, where the bumps that the ladder rest on while close, ripped through the outter sheet metal.

To fix it, 1st I filled the holes with RTV.

Then I used an 8x16 door push plate to better distribute weight of the ladder and to reinforce the already damaged area. Used heavy duty exterior 3m mounting tape.

Then I also thought I change the little tiny bumps that the ladder came with by using these 1.5" heavy duty rubber pads

CVT Mt. Shasta... the ladder rattled enough to break through....
What do you mean by solid metal? The metal is very thin and the core is styrofoam....

I've owned 4 (long story) and every single one has had variations... this one did not come with a ladder strap or the diagonal ladder supports... so yes, it it rattled and moved around long enough to pierced through....

Nice! Is that extra foam padding you are adding? I got the smittybilt (smaller one) and trying to figure out what/how to add additional padding. Haven't taken it out but plan to next weekend.

Word my tepui ladder vibrates on the cover but the big oversized rubber pads help but it’s definitely dented in that area. I put some remnant commercial carpet with pad backing on mine for a contact area. Seems to work so far

I finally found a RTT mounted on the cab! Thanks for the post. I have a high rise aluminum shell which cannot support a RTT on it's roof so I plan to mount a RTT on my Frontrunner rack on my cab. Have you had any issues with the RTT on your cab?

You might have already answered this but why the change from the FSR tent? Thinking about a very similar set up with the tent over the long bed just like you. I noticed you don't have any overhang on the back because of your bumper but would you see any issues with the length of the tent if you didn't have the bumper? Any comments on the quality of the fsr in general? I'd be changing over from a tepui kukenam sky for the main reason that i hate the hinge and like the slightly lower profile of the FSR.

    Thanks!
