Alright, I’ve been looking for a phone mount solution for my First Gen since I bought the truck. After I installed a head unit, I wanted a place to securely store my phone within easy reach… I did not like the idea of cluttering my dashboard and obstructing any part of my windshield view. Most importantly, I reeaaaallly did not want to block my air vent.

A couple months ago, OffRoam gave us First Gens some love and released the perfect solution for me (imho). They created a custom clamp that fits perfectly around the First Gen truck’s head unit trim. And this thing is solid… not moving anywhere at all, even off road.

It has two ball joints that allow massive amounts of adjustable positioning- I have mine in close reach of my right hand, but not obstructing my air vent. They offer a MagSafe compatible mount, or a spring one; I opted for the spring one because I don’t want to worry about how magnetic my phone’s case is… the spring is stiff enough that I’d never worry about my phone flying out l, even on washboards.

It’s expensive for a mount but you can definitely feel the quality. 100% recommend.

I’m not like sponsored or anything… no discount codes, lol. Here’s the link if you’re interested.

... or just put your phone down and drive the truck :notsure:

Absolutely, safety first! That's why I got this phone mount—to keep my phone secure and within natural sight so I can focus on the road. Thanks for looking out bud!

I have an Offroam for my 5th gen 4Runner, great holder. Glad to hear they've developed one for 1st gen Tacomas.

Nice find! I've wondered where to put my phone in my '04 for years. Might have to look into this.
    Thanks

I just put one in. It was pricey but definitely the best option available.

Looks good, but a bit sketchy on the mounting place since those bezels are known for cracking

I really like how solid a phone mount it is, and how it doesn't block any of the A/C vents, or the AMD display. I also have the mount that clamps to the CD slot, but prefer this version.
