    Well, well, well...[IMG]
It looks like Falken is coming out with a new RT (Rugged Terrain) tire coming out this month. (December). It is supposed to be something between an AT and an MT, so there you go.

The stats don't exactly add up at least as far as tire weights go. A 285/75/17 C load weighs in at 66.4 lbs. And a 285/75/17 E load weighs in at 65.8 lbs. I'd be interested to see what they 'actually' weigh.

I like the idea of a slightly more aggressive AT without going full MT. For me though, it might come down to how well it handles driving conditions here in the PNW.

I would’ve gladly tested it out had it been out about a month and a half ago, assuming it’s still got the falken 55k mile warranty I don’t see how you can go wrong. Still wish they made the AT3W’s in C load for 33s on a 16 inch wheel :/

Yeah, looks like it's a 50K mile warranty, but that's pretty good. I might end up grabbing these in a C load if I can. If the actual weight is not a boat anchor, I might be picking these up.

I like the sidewall and outer lugs, but the center tread looks a little weird to me. Toyo R/T trail or the Cooper rugged treks are my top two right now. Got new wheels, just need to decide what tires to get!

That’s a nice looking tire. It looked like a master craft courser cxt to me at first glance. I guess this is their competition to the Toyo rt trail.

Yeah those weights are HEAVY. Not surprisingly as the AT is also on the heavier end.

    Right!?

But it still doesn't make sense that their E rated tire would weigh less than the C rated tire. This seems to be a common problem as far as "published" weights go. I think companies play pretty fast and loose with stated stats. I was hopeful seeing the C rating that the weight wouldn't be too high for a 285/75/17 C. I might have to "weight and see"...

    I'll see myself out.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the C was indeed heavier than the E load tire, mainly because the c load was built for a specific spec. @Discount Tire might have more info on that.

Nice to see sizes like 35x11.50, load range C with 3 ply sidewalls, etc. Looks like they were actually thinking of the toyota offroad market.

You guys complaining about weight can keep you Es with 2ply sidewalls.

haha, can’t have it all can we? I’m 95% on road these days and that’s usually between states so yeah weight matter for me. But I still want an R/T so there’s my conundrum

I'd guess it's Falken's attempt to compete with the Nitto Ridge Grappler...

I would still pick the Toyo R/T trails over this but both are super heavy.

Yeah I wanna know weights and price. I may just end up with another set of AT's at this rate.

I like the look of them but yeah i noticed the at3w C rated weighs more than the E rated also. I loved my old AT3W tires but they werent even load rated. Currently have 285-70-17 E rated Ridge Grapplers and wanting a lighter tire for my 4cyl 5Spd. At this rate for good winter rated C-D load all terrain I'm looking at the BFG K02.
