I just installed a set of SCS Stealth 6's (16 X 8 BS 3.50" offset -25mm, stock suspension, no spacers) and that got me thinking about negative offsets: has anyone had adverse results from running these on a 3rd gen? Should I be concerned? I didn't fully realize how much of an offset -25 would be until I got 'em installed. Am I over thinking this and should I just run with it?

I think if you are properly aligned and balanced, the movement of the weight outside will have little effect.

Tire size matters though. Most people running sizes above stock will have to deal with rubbing. Thus they’ll have to lift, chop, etc. Then a whole set of issues come into play.

I’m running -38mm last 40k miles no issues.

Thanks Crispy - I'm getting an alignment this week, and I do have some rubbing (265/75/16's) at full lock, although it's minimal and can probably be managed with some trimming. I have zero interest in anything larger than that.

I contacted SCS about this when researching wheels and they agreed with what the industry says, negative offset wheels will increase wear on bearings. Google it.

Well, here is my before and after. If I wear out a bearing a little prematurely, I’ll deal with it when the time comes.

The wear on the bearings is so negligible it can’t even be accurately proven how much extra wear it causes. Probably a difference of a few miles of OAL.

But it does cause extra wear. Lol.

The same thing could probably said about tire pressure, types of tires, etc!

Thanks Ronzio - good to know! Did you have to do any trimming?

can you show a front shot with the offset?

the only [minor] consideration may be throwing mud up the side of your truck. doubt that's a problem for you, but here at TW i won't be surprised if it is.

Ain't it worth it tho- such a beautiful truck you got there! I considered going that exact route, but on a whim went with these instead. OP, would love to see a pic on what looks like an inferno?

I've been running a negative offset since I got the truck and I have zero issues. I also think the truck performs better in general with the offset (especially in snow).
