I searched the thread and couldn't find the answer to the following, but maybe someone knows (or maybe I missed it):

    • Will a 6' Flippac designed for a Ranger/1st gen Tacoma fit on a 6' bed (access cab) 2nd gen Tacoma?
    • put another way - were there different Flippacs specific to each truck, or were they just based on bed length?

they're pretty generic...so it should fit...
mine came off a guy who had it on 2nd gen...i've got a 1st gen.
main issue is that the over hang rubs on my cab, so i've got a spacer between the bed rails and the flippac.
i think the 2nd gen has wider bed rails (which is better for the flippac)...slight bed size differences, but ultimately it should fit fine.

What @moto.mike said. They are all pretty generic and the rails are wide and help fit the variation in truck beds. I’m not sure what truck you have but I’ve got a regular cab and the slant is not the same as an access or double cab. I have to slide the FlipPac back toward the tailgate an inch or two so it doesn’t rub on the window gasket.

I started working on a bed brace to try and transfer some of the weight off the rails down to the bed bolts/frame since I’ve got an issue with my bed starting to “break.”

    Nice!
I finally am getting around to it as well...i went with 1x4" rectangular alum tube for the side rails, 1x2" for the front part.
I've still got it sitting on wood 2x4" right now on the sides and like a smaller piece up front, but got all my measurements and need to weld up the alum.
will post up some photos once I get it done.

on a side note, i was able to cinch up the back of the thing and bolt it so that the back wasn't bowing. I measured a 1.5" difference in the width at the back vs the front...now it's less than a 1/2". will tighten it up even more with the alum tube.

I bought a 7' long flippac awhile back and just recently finished modifying it to fit my long bed tacoma. Decided to make a lil video about it check it out!

I'll be posting more 2nd gen tacoma/flippac content in the future as well.

Sweet I'd like to see your progress on it as well! I was thinking about doing aluminum too but I opted for the steel, just hope the extra weight from it doesn't become more of an issue than a help. I was thinking about adding a couple of eye bolts at the end toward the tailgate and using some sort of ratchet strap to help hold things together when I head rougher roads. Anyway, I guess well see what happens!

Awesome. I wish mine didn’t have the side windows. They’re useless.

Ya I was pretty stoked to find it without them. I fish a lot so makes me feel better not being easy to see into the truck while I’m out

Haha ya finally got it on, take yours off for the season or other reason? I hope my shitty welding holds for this brace but time well tell.

4 of us put it on so I could mark the holes to drill for the rivnuts. Slide the shell over so I could drill in the steel and set the rivnuts.

I installed 6, 3 on each side. I need to get some longer bolts so I can use the lock washer.

Was trying to find a east way to keep my boards out of the way. Didn’t want anything mounted outside of the truck. Came up with this idea then found already made l brackets at ace that worked perfect. Super secure and no unscrewing every time I need to use them to level or get unstuck

Little update on my “bed brace” I got some longer bolts and cut a few oversized 3/16 washers. I’ve had wing a bit of an issue with cracks everywhere so I’m gonna have to start doing some fiberglass work after this season.

Has anyone re-carpeted the interior? I’d like to take it out to patch some areas and put new carpet in but I have no idea how to do that.

Got the 4ft arb awning to put above the rear hatch of my flippac. Does anyone have any details on installation in this spot? Seen it done a few times.

Can't say I have any experience with carpeting flipacs but in the past when I have done carpet with weird angles, having a steamer has helped to shape and mold the carpet around angles. Using something with an adhesive in it doesn't sound like the best idea only because the heat seems like it would cause adhesion issues. But shaping carpet for custom jobs a hand steamer helps to form it. you could probably reach out to an upholstery shop and see what they recommend for something like that. Possibly a topper manufacture as well since they carpet shells. There are products for it for sure. I imagine having the flipac on its lid upside down and allowing gravity to aid would be easier than leaving it on. It'll be a slow process for sure but I hope you are able to do it and curious to see how you accomplish it.
