A bit of funk here but my 45 started doing the same thing over the past 2 days. I noticed the set temp was 34 when I had it at 35. I set it back to 35 and later in the day decided to check it, sure enough it was set back to 34. Continued to play this back and forth setting game and same behavior. Tried switching the unit off, unplugging it and then holding down the power button for a few seconds. Plugged it back in, turned it on and confirmed set to 34. Checked a few hours later and it was again showing a set temp of 35.

    Very odd. @Dometic, suggestions? Thx!

This is a great question and one I needed to dig deeper into with the product manager.

It turns out that the system code is written in terms of Celsius. When the user selects a temp in F, it reverts to the closest half digit of Celsius. As you can imagine there can be a little fluctuation in the internal temp throughout the day so you can see it round up or round down on where you had it set.

Definitely can be confusing but shouldn't be anything to worry about

Thanks, appreciate the reply. Want to add that even though it was set to 36 (it likes 36 but not 35), the compressor either must have stayed on and the temp display showed it was 30! A moment later after opening it to retrieve a drink, it was showing 34. Very odd.

Can you possibly check to see if there is some form of manual hard reset? I tried disconnecting power and then holding down the power button to be sure it was indeed deprived of all current. No dice. Honestly, I don't mind just want to be sure if there is something amiss, I deal with it now.

    Thanks!

    Hey Everyone!

I have a CFX3 75DZ and am having two issues with it. The first being the set temperature changing by itself. This happens both when I use the app and when I use the cooler control panel and have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned off. The changing of set temp happens regardless of the temperature I set each side of the cooler to. It usually changes to a degree or two lower than what I set.
Example: Set cooler to 39 deg F. Come back 2 hours later, set temperature is now 37 deg F. Internal temp of cooler is 35 deg F.
Example 2: Set cooler to 40 deg F. Come back 2 hours later, set temperature is now 39 deg F. The internal temperature of the cooler is +/- 2 deg from the 39 deg set temp.

My second issue I have encountered is when trying to connect the cooler to Wi-Fi. I type in the network name and password and save it but it doesn't connect. I then noticed its deleting the letter "a" out of my network name.

I've contacted Dometic multiple times about the issues and they finally sent me a new CFX3 75DZ thinking it was just a bad unit. Unfortunately the new one is doing the same thing and it also sounds like others are experiencing the issues too. I do have an appointment (Nov 9) to drop my cooler off at a service center but thinking I may be better off just returning it. For the price of the cooler, these issues aren't acceptable to me. Maybe a new firmware could be loaded?

I plan on calling Dometic again tomorrow to let them know its not just me having the issue.

    Thanks!

I think they just explained the temp thing a few posts above, looks like it’s picking the closest round Celsius number. And it’ll always run in a certain “window” above/below that set temp.

As for the WiFi, got no idea. I only connected mine to Bluetooth with my phone

As @AugustaTaco mentioned the temp change you are seeing is relative to the firmware being written to use Celsius and the drift you see is effectively a rounding error between deg F and Celsius. Nothing to be concerned about.

As for the network issue that is a new one that I'll have to ask the product manager about. I've not heard of this issue before. Is this from the app or on the cooler itself? Are you able to connect to the cooler via the app and Bluetooth successfully or do you run a wi-fi hotspot in your vehicle when in use for the cooler and other items?

    @Dometic ,

    Thank you for your response.

I guess I'm still a bit confused on the "set temp" drift. Seems strange it would change what the user sets, regardless if the code "reads" it in Celsius. According to the other post it is rounding to the nearest half degree C but it doesn't seem that way in the below example.
Example: Set the temperature to 39 deg F (3.88889 C), 2 hours later the set temp has changed to 37 deg F (2.77778 C).
Shouldn't the cooler code be reading 4 deg C (39.2 deg F) when I set 39 deg F? Seems like it is truncating anything after the decimal but that is just a theory. So the cooler sees 3 deg C when I enter 39 deg F and then changes the set temp to 37 deg F.

I did try changing the cooler to read in deg C and saw no drift in the set temp.

Second, I believe I was confused thinking the cooler could be controlled over the internet instead of just a local area network. I did some troubleshooting and found that by changing the frequency band to 2.4 GHz instead of 5.0 GHz on my hotspot and shortening the network name the cooler did connect. The deleting of a letter from the network name happens at character 15 or 16. I checked reviews for the CFX3 app on the Android app store and others are also having this issue. The workaround being to shorten your network name or figuring out which letter it deletes and typing it twice for longer network names.

    Best Regards

Anyone have experience with the Dometic CFX3 75D mounted on a slider in the bed?

I have a CFX3 35 mounted in mine now but I got a nice deal on the 75D and really want to mount it. Initial measurements make me think that I'm going to have a tough time getting any boxes past the 75D when loading my bed. I have the long bed and will be installing a hardshell cap next month.

Thoughts or experience with this monster fridge in the bed?

I know it fits on the back seat but I have kids and need to back seats for seating.

Anyone here ever recharge one of these coolers? I have a CFX35W that no longer cools. I ran it in emergency mode on AC and DC power to no effect. Talked to @Dometic tech help and the guy I talked to agreed it sounds like the coolant system is toast. It's a sealed system and an odd job so I have not been able to find anyone to recharge it.

Try calling a Dometic Authorized Service Center in your local area yet? Would probably be your best bet. Still under warranty? As long as you registered it, I imagine it is. Hopefully, they can sort you out.

I tried calling the one the rep recommended but they told me they don't actually service any and that they didn't know why dometic keeps recommending them.... I got it used so I doubt there's any chance of warranty

You're absolutely right. It does take a lot of space. For the most part you can forget about loading anything bigger into the bed, but that is a price you'll have to pay in order to have it installed.

    I just bought a CFX3 55IM.
Still on the box, just got home.
Will try the fit in back seat of 13 Tacoma Access Cab tomorrow.
Let it sit for a day.
Then plug it into the Jackery 500, 240, and the home 110v.
I do not plan to use truck power for it.

    @Dometic
    Or maybe someone else,
Could you please help me to find a replacement for icemaking compartment (the thin box with silicone trays) for the 55IM? And also I need a DC cable.
By the way maybe someone is looking for a cfx3 55im in SoCal? I bought it few months ago but it's way to big for my needs and won't fit on the backseat of 2nd Gen access cab. I think I'd get a 35 or 45, hope it will fit on the backseat. Any experience anyone?
    Thanks in advance.
    :)

I pulled my seats and my 55im fits.
I have a board in place to level the area, but it fits.
I plan to make a better support that fits in the 'foot area' to support the forward area better.

Still reading this thread, at pg 19.
I got the unit set at 38°f with ice maker on.
I ran it on AC till stabilized.
Gallon of water, and a quart of water in the unit.
    Jackery 240, full charge.
After 1.5 hours the Jackery is at 80%.

Will try the Jackery 500 tomorrow.
