I have the 55IM and if I need to keep something frozen-ish, I'll remove the ice tray compartment, turn the ice maker on, and put whatever I need to freeze on top of that area. I tried it once with one of those frozen skillet meals and it worked great.

Most freezers are down in the single digit range so I don't think you'll be able to get away with a makeshift DZ

Just purchased a CFX3 55IM! Stoked to get it and try it out.
Any ideas on how fast they ship out? Hopefully pretty fast, I have a camping trip planned in a couple weeks I want to try it out on.

    Hi Adam,

Glad to hear you ordered a 55IM

Since we still have them in stock on the website during the current Labor Day sale I would expect that you should get it relatively quickly. While I never know how many might be in the warehouse the site is kept up to date as to whether there are units available or that they have sold out. I'm not able to see any order status information, but I would expect that your 55IM should ship out pretty quickly if it hasn't already. Hopefully, it will arrive in plenty of time for you to do a shakedown test at home and get used to using it for your trip.

Just got it today! Kinda surprised FedEx delivered on Labor Day, but glad it’s here.

Pictures once you have it in. Would like to see how you arrange it and how much space you have with the shortbed.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Somewhat agree. I bought the 75 because I wanted the dual zone. While we run it on a single zone 9 out of 10 trips, it's really nice to have the dual zone feature for really long trips. We eat a lot of venison, so it's nice to be able to leave home with enough meat to last a whole trip without having to resupply on the road and just leave with a huge pile of frozen meat in the back section. However, it is huge and many times I wish I had gotten something smaller to save space.
I have this slide. I love it. If you need the tilting feature, you'll know. Can't imagine not having the ability to tilt it down since the unit sits atop my drawer system.

Got my cfx55im today. Test fit it in my truck, around my modular diy platform system. Question for everybody - how crucial is it to strap it down really tight? I don’t plan on buying a slide (don’t want to bolt that to my bed, and I plan on using the cooler in multiple vehicles). The way I have it positioned, I plan on putting a cam strap around it to snug it up to the side of my bed. I’ll also have gear packed around it.

Still curious what others thoughts are about having it strapped down really tight.

Personally I have mine very secure. 4 straps, two on each handle. For yours, I would throw two cam straps here and see where that leaves it sturdiness wise.

for the other side, maybe two D rings on the platform so you can put straps in a similar position.

Edit: you mention packing gear around it. Make sure you leave adequate space for ventilation

Good idea on the D-Rings. I’ll do just that.

And ya, I’ll have stuff packed around it, but not around the compressor vents.

to many to list, check the build thread
you should at a minimum strap it down to the bed stiffener and possibly on the left side as well. you could use the C channel tie downs up front on the passanger side. I wrapped a 4x4 post cut at like 8" long to space the fridge away from that passanger side wall of the truck, the way you have it sitting currently the heat comes out and hits that wall bouncing it back into the unit. I flipped mine around so the screen was facing the cab, this way the heat comes out into the bed but the fan unit pulls air in the 4" gap against the bedside.

Is the setting itself changing or is it just displaying the actual temperature inside the fridge? It'll fluctuate a couple of degrees in either direction of whatever it's set at.

It is the setting itself. The actual temp does a great job of getting close to the set temp or below. But this is the temp in the menu you select. It keeps messing with me, like it's haunted or something.

Can anyone recommend an affordable alternative to the Dometic slide for the CFX3 55IM? It's been out of stock for what seems like months but I may just be missing the restock.
