I will have it this evening.

I like Beersmith and I’m confident in my abilities with it, but I’ve been thinking more and more about switching to cloud based software so I can access my recipes from any device.

@Beer:30 This was my first foray in to 30 minute mash and boil so the times are skewed for that, but you can easily extend them if you feel the need.

    OG 1.045ish
    FG 1.012ish
    34 IBUs

    75% Maris Otter
    10% White Wheat
    10% Lyle's Golden Syrup
5% Dark Crystal (I used 150 as its what I had on hand)

23 IBUs of Warrior at 30 min
7 IBUs East Kent Goldings at 15 min
4 IBUs East Kent Goldings at Flameout

WLP-002 London Ale yeast. The original recipe calls for Imperial Pub Ale yeast, but my LHBS does not carry Imperial.

Mash at 149F for 30 minutes

This Dubbel is by far the most aggressive fermentation I have experienced to date. I definitely needed a blowoff, but it’s slowed down enough to let it ride until the krausen drops.

The porter seems to be done. Finished right where I wanted. Should be right around 6% alcohol. The sample tasted great.

Thanks, man! It won't be right away, but I do plan on brewing it in the next few months (when my keg of American Stout is close to kicking). I'll let you know how it turns out when I do.

No problem! I have no doubt you’ll enjoy it.

Enjoying another this evening. I chilled this one slightly, but poured it before the chill haze could settle in. It won’t be that clear again for a few more weeks lol

I am still at minimum 3.5 weeks away from getting home, if I can get home, but I had the misses go and stock up on some stuff for me yesterday. If/when I get back I will have to self quarantine for at least 14 days and I won't be going through that without beer after being gone for at least the last 4 1/2 months..

Initially she went to Total Wine and got some basic but good stuff - Stone IPA, Lagunitas IPA, Sierra Nevada sampler pack and Brewdog Punk IPA. She then went to a bottle shop and picked up some more stuff... New Realm hazy like an Ox, Ocelot Brewing Basemeant Seance, Vasen Velvet Walrus on Raspberry and Guava Passion Sour and Benchtop Brewing Walters Brunch. Then I had my dad pick up some more/different stuff from another bottle shop... Great Notion Superstar, Drekker Brains and Brain squeeze sours, Off Color Coffee D'ino Smores, Sloop Turbo Speed and Liquid Sorcery and Perennial Intentionally Indulgent.

Lastly I placed a delivery order (some breweries are currently offering that in Northern VA during the pandemic) from Aslin Brewing and ordered Master of Karate, Sorbet, Business Showers, Soggy Toast and Champion of the Sun! Sorbet is a milkshape IPA and Business showers is a pale ale but the rest of are hazy IPAs. Total wine.jpg Dominion haul.jpg Dominion 2.jpg

My shipment from Aslin was delivered to my wife yesterday!

And I ordered more... a lot more! Hi-Wire Brewing out of Asheville just started shipping and I loaded up!

12 packs of Hi pitch, Lo pitch and the collaboration mixed pack. 6 packs of Smores Porter, Hop circus IPA and Orange Meringue. And 4 packs of 10W-40 Macaroon imperial Stout, Hazy & Juicy & Hoppy & fresh and Cherry Key Lime sour smoothie.

Also had my dad pick up beer from a brewery right next door to where he works, Ocelot Brewing. 3 hazy 4 packs, 2 Sour 4 packs and a 4 pack imperial stout (pic attached of order).

And lastly, my dad lives in PA and Levante Brewing delivers within PA. I ordered 5 hazy IPA 4 packs from them - Cloudy and Cumbersome (2), Froth, Tickle Parts and a 4 pack of Bilberry Hill Blueberry Desert stout.

I will not come home thirsty, that's for sure! I have bought 224 beers in the last 3 days. The next 3.5 weeks can't come fast enough if I am even able to make it home.

I hope everyone is safe and doing well!

    Cheers!

Do you have to go into 14 day quarantine upon return like the DoD guys?

Yep. At minimum if I am not outwardly exhibiting symptoms. And if I am, then it's a quarantine at or near the airport and not a home self quarantine. But there are also a ton of questions for State Department personnel on if we will even be able to get home. There are no commercial flight options out of here at all right now and there are questions to rather we will be able to be admitted into the US once they are available. Some higher level talks are occurring about the possibility of using DoD assets too but then other things become issues... So long story short, it's a cluster and who knows if I will even leave on April 14 anyways.

Shit is crazy! There was a mad rush of people to get out of here earlier this week before the airports closed...

I have a year left in electrical engineering. Picked it for my midlife crisis degree because it seemed like work with it would never go away.

I’m near STL for one more day and they have shut down nearly everything now. Driving an hour into town to curbside a four pack that’s similar to back home stuff seems excessive. Bummed the taprooms are closed, was getting some good stuff. Planned on hitting Side Project’s cellar room and trying some of their reserved bottles but noooo.

still have like $400 worth of beer in my car tho :)
