I have been trying to install these new trail gear "bomb proof" motor mounts.

I'm centered up but they just won't drop down completely into place.
I tried lubing the frame side mount also, no luck.

Both sides are to high for the bolts to go in. Any advice for fitting these?

I genuinely cannot understand what your issue is based on the description or the photos.

Have you tried to reach out to the vendor regarding your problem?

As @YotaGangYotaGang suggests- the motor and transmission are more or less one unit connected to the frame/transmission mounts. Loosening the transmission mounts might be a solution, but I'd question the viability of the motor mounts if they don't drop in without an issue in place of the stock motor mounts.

Frame is probably bowed in a bit or the frame mounts are bent down. Happens overtime, especially with the older Tacomas.

Any evidence to back that up? I've never heard that before. And that's not to say I've heard of everything. I'm just doubting the frame bending overtime being a common thing.

I've broken a couple of the frame side motor mount brackets off of the frame, and have compaired measurements on another Tacoma of mine to a buddies non-abused Tacoma. Mounting points were ~.75" pulled in, causing this same exact problem. Happens overtime via wheeling, prerunning, or worn out stock mounts letting the motor flop around and beat on the frame mounts.

Fair enough- I know the desert / jumping folk break motor mounts, but I hadn't heard of the frame side bending or breaking.

Throw those in the trash and order some from @Bonzen

They were designed for older trucks and fail gear claims they fit the 3.4, but really drop the motor a good inch.

I was able to 'fit' mine by cutting them apart and completely remaking them.

Yup! 1st gens had a weaker design, 2nd/3rd gens are a little better but not much.
Heres a fix for the 1st gens.

    Everything.
Those were designed as a replacement for the 22R motor mounts. It just so happens that the 22R and 3.0 & 3.4 V6 trucks all share the same 2-bolt spacing geometry on the frame side. So they sell them as a replacement for the V6 trucks as well, problem is they dont fit well.

And yes the tacoma frames and frame perches do very commonly bow and crack due to failed motor mounts and hard offroading.

Here is a set of my 3.4 V6 mounts that I sell

I tried to get bonzen solid mounts first, but but he is 3 weeks out to get them.

I did not know Trail gear had such a bad reputation. If they have a part that dose not fit that is clearly on them.

I will try the hilift and see if I can spread the frame some, if that doesn't work I will put some new OEM mounts in. They are in stock at the dealer I was just trying to upgrade.

    NO NO NO NO NO

Do NOT spread the frame at all. Just buy better motor mounts!

The frame spreading thing was a joke. Don’t do it.
