So is there a way to test a IAC valve like unplugging it and seeing if the idle changes ? I really dont want to take the whole throttle body off to take the damn thing out if its not the problem. as well as that its a expensive part and damn im getting tired of spending hundreds after hundereds on this thing. Thanks:)

Obtain a copy of the factory service manual. There are a couple checks you can do without removing it. You need a ohm meter for one of the checks.

I know this thread is old but I stumbled on it after searching for numerous weeks. I have replaced my iacv and truck still doesn't idle right.

The main question I have when doing the check how much should I see the valve move? I have a new iacv and old and they both only move a hair and then I can feel humming from the actuator. Shouldnt they do a full stroke open when the ECT sensor is disconnected?
I find it hard to believe the iacv valve is bad?

For those who missed it there are FSMs for Tacoma's in this forum. Look at the top of the stickies. Download while you can. Sooner or later Toyota's attorneys are going to see this and that will be all she wrote.

Got the FSM, I know how to check it, but all it says do these steps and check for " normal operation". What is normal operation? should the valve fully open or fully close? my just twitches, the new one and the old one, old one is spotless clean. Do the magnetic actuators ever go out?
