Beware of the lead times listed on the home page of the website. I am 24 weeks in with the current lead times listed 14-16 weeks as of 8/23/2022. They were 8-12 weeks when I ordered them. This delay does not seem to be uncommon.

I have inquired a couple of times with the last response being "your's is next in the queue." Their response rate is great but the main complaint I am finding is that the follow up is lacking. Over the 6 months I have waited, I've also seen sales events, and so much social media activity. Sure, marketing is important but I am a 100% paid customer who should be your #1 priority. Yes, that's right, you pay 100% upfront and "all sales are final."

This review does not come without some internet sleuthing. I wanted to see if my experience was common or not. Based on the spectrum of sites I found with reviews I would say this is a common issue; Facebook (3.9/5 w/36 reviews), Better Business Bureau (1 complaint), and a couple of Reddit thread mentions.

It's interesting I don't see any mention on any of the Toyota forums. Let me know if you have had a similar experience and how it was resolved.

    Still nothing...

I checked in and got a response 9/2 that they were done. They even included a photo of said lights. Asked for any shipping information a week ago on 9/27 and no response since.

    Sigh.

^Their website lists a store address and phone number. What happens when you call them at (919) 903-4555 and ask for tracking?

Honestly, I am so used to anonymous online companies now, I haven't thought of that. I actually do just this all day at work. I'm calling them tomorrow.

    Thanks dude.

Any update on what became of this? I've been seeing a bit of bad publicity here on TW, and from what I gather, it looks like these guys grew too fast, and customers are paying the price for it now.

@sachou After 9 months, I finally received my headlights. I found that texting is the way to push for your product.

Through the 9 month process, I was told my headlights were next, finished, and lost in the mail. As soon as I mentioned inquiring with PayPal and UPS, they got turned out. Though the website states there are no refunds for custom products, I feel having used PayPal, I would have been able to get my money back.

I work logistics every day at work and am familiar with the white lies when things are delayed. One thing I will commend them on is not going silent every time I inquired.

Now, to the quality of the work. So far no evidence of weatherproofing failure so bonus. Doing the sniff test (holding so close to my face I could smell it) there's a few things that kind of bug me. There's dust on the inside of the scratched headlight lens, the epoxy is messy, and one of the halos is upside down. There's also a tooling mark where the lens was pried off the original backing. None of this effects performance but still, it looks like I could have done a better job. I was seriously contemplating doing it myself and canceling the order so I did a lot of research.

The difference the projectors make is night and day (pun intended). My original headlights reflective chrome was failing and the high beams barely made a difference. Speaking of high beams! Only one works. Autoshop next door says could be a projector motor. With the additional lights I will be adding, I'd rather live with that then send my lights back and possibly have to go through this whole process again. I also found out that BXBuilt did 5x7's too late in the process.

They look mean and I can see driving the windy back roads again so chalk it up to a learning experience.

Appreciate the update! I definitely would not be satisfied with that quality of work if I received my product in that state. The high beam failure is downright broken, I wouldn't stand for that.

I sent an email to the owner of TEQ Customs this morning asking about these negative experiences, got word back from him immediately, and it sounds like they went through growing pains recently, probably around the time your order was being processed. Seems like they might have worked through the majority of the issues. But still, waiting that long, and receiving a broken product...that's not right.

I know this is an older thread, I read it prior to making a purchase at TEQ Customs. I live in NC about 35 to 40 minutes from their shop. I just dropped a wad of cash on a new dobinsons IMS suspension and really couldn't be happier. I am pretty exacting when it comes to information gathering. Up until last week, all of my interactions with the TEQ team were via email. Everyone of my countless emails were responded to in a not only timely and helpful manner, but also a thoughtful manner as well. At my job, I send a lot of emails that often have embedded questions and at work I have send multiple emails to get my questions answered not with TEQ. I sent emails that had 6 or 7 questions and each question was answered to my satisfaction. No BS. Just the facts.

Their prices were spot on as well.

Once I was ready to pull the trigger on a 3k suspension purchase, TEQ ordered and scheduled the work and kept me posted on timing. The whole process was painless and I dropped my truck off in the morning and it was ready by 5PM. The mechanic who worked on the truck did the checkout, walked into the parking lot with me and we talked about the job and trucks in general. I drove there in a 92 hilux 2wd. And, the got the conversation going as well.

Final thoughts: I would recommend TEQ and go back there in a heartbeat. There are a few solid 4x4 shops in the Raleigh area. This is the first one I have been at where they had about 15 or 20 Toyotas lined up in the parking lot. And, besides all of the stuff I just wrote being a Toyota centric shop was a big plus. Their prices were spot on as well.

Getting ready to cross post this to google reviews.

So in a nutshell, you waited 9 months (lol) to receive headlights that look like they were built by an amateur and one of the high beams doesn’t even work? What a joke. I was just reading the FAQ page on their site and noticed several obvious typos and that was a first red flag for me. Thanks for sharing your experience with this place.

Any more recent experiences from folks who have purchased Teq Customs headlights? I love the look of the lights but won't buy if some of these quality and lead time issues haven't been addressed. TIA!

I ordered mine back in November, and am about 15 weeks out from the order, past the 12 week lead time. I just got an email back from them saying they were behind, and are trying to "catch up". So we'll see. I won't be waiting much longer before I start gunning for a refund. Mid March is my limit. It will have been 4 months at that point.

Did you order your lights before or after you knew about this thread? If after, I’m curious why people are still giving these guys their business knowing of these problems. Some shops do have delays which I’d be okay with if the work was awesome but here you’re getting delays AND shitty work. What gives?

I'm glad I found this thread.
I'm looking to upgrade my headlights from the candles that are currently on my truck.
