I had the dealer set 'Outside Air Mode Auto Switch Function' to OFF (default is ON) so the Recirculate door would stay closed instead of opening back up to outside air 1 minute after shutting the ignition off. The setting held for several months and now when I turn the key to ON (Recirculate light was ON when shut off) I hear the door closing again like it is back to the default setting. The battery was not disconnected or anything like that. It's only gone about 1300 miles since it was set.

Is this a common problem? I don't want mice in the airbox or eating the wires.

Does anyone know if you can set the instrument cluster backlight to be on during the day without the headlights being on in Techstream?

    Thanks

Went to the dealer again for scheduled maintenance and also to set the Outside Air Mode Auto Switch Function to OFF again. Not sure if it was checked after setting but when I got home it was still in the default ON setting.

Aren't Techstream settings supposed to stay until someone changes them or could the ECU be faulty? This is a 2023 Tacoma

    Respectfully: did you ask them?
Sounds to me like it’s going to keep reverting back to the way it was designed.

Are you sure it's not spring assisted?

Remove the voltage from the solenoid, and it's going to return to the spring contracted position.

I honestly don't know for sure, but wanted to be included in what is found out. I'm curious.

My 2009 Tacoma held whatever position you left it in as does my 2004 Camry XLE with the Auto AC. You can hear the motor activate and open the door after sitting 1 minute when you shut if off. On a new vehicle shutting the ignition off and removing the key does not cut the power to the ECU like on older vehicles. I have the 2020 service manual pdf and it clearly is a setting that can be changed. From the attached service manual page: Display, Outside Air Mode Auto Switch Function, Default ON, Content, Function to automatically change the air inlet to FRESH mode when the vehicle is parked, Setting, ON or OFF, Assembly, Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly. Since I did not see the technician set it I'm not sure if it was done and then reverted or did not get saved properly. The service advisor came out and asked if i wanted the AC compressor to be set to manual mode for the Auto setting. They were going to set that but the tech thought that it might not turn on the AC with the defroster automatically so he left that alone.
Techstream can be rented for 10 days for $69 but it's about $1200 per year for a subscription so that's out. I might check out Carista. GM has a better way of doing it. $45 for full access for 2 years for one VIN.
