    It’s bigger on the outside.

Seems like the MY24 is the likely candiate for getting free pin stripes vs the 3rd.

I watched a little of the rear comparison and it was bigger on the inside as well.

Did he bother doing the front seat bottom where you sit on to the floor? Wondering if it really is any difference.

Having personally tested a couple 4th gens so far, I can confirm there is not just a slight difference but a very major one. I feel like the numbers are less impressive than the actual new geometry of sitting in it.

I do not believe he took any seat cushion measurements of the front though.

The measurements of the length of the front versus the rear doors in the 4th gen explain why the rear door looks so out of proportion with the front door when compared to the 3rd gen. Rear door in 4 gen is 1 inch narrower and front door is 3 inches longer. I wonder why they did that. It looks so odd to me.

Thats only 2.1" narrower than my silverado was. I wanted a smaller truck and am glad I got a 2023. I got the silverado to replace my '91 s10, which I loved. My sr even has a sticker on the dash that says S10. lol

^Recall the video of a dealer GM giving an info session to his sales team. According to the video, the 4th gen is the same size as a '90s F-150.

The fact the 4th gen is on the same "platform" as the Tundra limits how far Toyota could shrink it. This affects other supposedly "mid-size" models as well. The GX550 and new Land Cruiser are wider than the 80-series LX450/Land Cruiser.

If you drive by a Toyota dealership that has some Tacomas onsite, it is really hard to pick out the Tacomas amongst all the Tundras. You do double takes at least. The size gap has definitely shrunk and I always thought the Tundras were titanic.

As everything keeps growing over time I wonder how much different the 4th gen Tacoma is from the 1st gen tundra. I bet they are getting close!

I’m most impressed that at a glance they both just look “Tacoma”, but the proportions by the tape are very different. That’s an under-appreciated engineering/design magic trick required by sharing platforms with hybrid SUV’s. Clues are relatively subtle: rear axle pushed further back, exhaust tailpipe rerouted, fuel tank size/location.

My only gripe is that (aside from still needing a couple more inches of rear legroom), sitting in the rear seat is now a little more claustrophobic w the short glass. With the flat black panel blocking your peripheral, it’s almost FJ Cruiser-ish back there.

After upgrading from a 2021 SR5 double cab to the 2024 double cab, and then taking a 1500 mile road trip...the size and comfort are MUCH better. In my '21, a 6-hour trip would have left me a little stiff, especially around the knees...in my '24 I did that full 1500 miles in 2 days and had ZERO discomfort or stiffness. I'm 5'10", for reference and just my two-cents :)

That is based on the person. I drove my 2022 on a similar road trip and had no issues. I'm about the same height at 5'11".
