So some friends and I are planning to meet up in Tahoe later this year (I live in WA and they live in TX) and run the rubicon trail. They all have dedicated off road rigs (jeeps mostly). I will be driving my taco down there but im worried about damaging it on the rubicon. I have heard that all the difficult parts of the trail have bypasses, but i have heard from others that this is not the case at all. I do not plan on modding my taco anytime soon, so my question is:
Is it possible to run the Rubicon without causing body/mechanical damage to my stock tacoma?

Please tell me you’re at least going to have sliders before attempting something like this....

Armor is definitely needed. With a truck, your departure angle is very limited so you'll be dragging and ripping your rear bumper a lot. The bypasses aren't fire roads and such, and even the bypasses need some technical abilities to navigate.

Would this be your first offroad trip? Go on YouTube and see videos people have posted doing the rubicon, then ask yourself if you think your stock truck can do it.
If I were you I’d park it and ride in one of the friends heeps.

Why bash your stock truck against rocks? You will be in a world of pain without armor, sliders, and improved clearance/angles. If you have never taken your truck rock crawling, starting with the Rubicon trail is ill advised.

Dont go thru the "little sluice" section , but in all honesty most 4x4 clubs and I believe CA4WDC dont reccomend a stock jeep on this trail . I highly doubt you can even go over the Gatekeeper without damage

Id recommend buying some skids as well, BAMF makes 1/4 inch skids for this reason.

I’ve Jeeped the Rubicon 4 times. There is zero chance you won’t damage your truck badly on the Rubicon. .

Best gets some sliders and full skids before you attempt. Throw a set a of bilsteins on there too cause those plates are going to drop you close to an inch in clearance. If you can’t do that ride with a friend

If you want an easier trail I suggest doing the Dusy Irshim trail East of Fresno !! . But again it's got a few technical sections including the Gatekeeper

Absolutely. I’m on 700# springs with sliders and plates and no bumper yet. I couldn’t imagine not having them lol

Ive got 886s to install before i put on my mobtown skids, and i have a demello steel bumper coming, and a smittybuilt winch sitting in my living room. I hope the 886s are enough until I pony up the cash for kings lol

I remember 23 yrs ago taking my 68 M38A1 Jeep Rock Crawler to the CA4WDC Rubicon run . I made thru most of the trail until I attempted the little sluice . About half way thru this section I grenaded the front Dana 44 axle . Then trying to back out I blew up the t/case
