Long story short my taillight fell out and I dragged it for a little ways. The tailight pulled the wires off the harness clips. Any one know how to get this back to how it was?

First of all, we want to know how your tail light 'FELL OUT". It's held in by two 10mm bolts and the wires are not long enough to drag on the ground. Come clean, you fu*ked up some how.

Fiberglass bedsides. Ask someone with fiberglass besides that actually off-road, and they'll tell you they've had taillights fall out. Where the 10mm bolts bolt into break as pictured. I'm on my 3rd set. Just wondering how to fix it. Not that big of a deal

Any recommendations tho? Do I need a new harness clips thing, or what's my best bet? I'm not a wiring genius lol

I’d talk to Dave with FBC Harness Solutions, maybe he can build you one or steer you in the right direction.

    @daveeasa

As for the taillamp bolts pulling through the fibreglass, how about using a large fender washer to spread the load out.

I can build a pigtail or help you locate terminals and seals. You’ll need a crimper too.

3rd gen Tacoma brake connector (triangle) pinout is:
    1. Brake, blue
    2. Ground, white w black
    3. Parking lights, green

turn connector (flat 3 pos) I think has ground also in the 2 spot but I have to check my templates.

On second thought How much would pigtails cost for you to build them?

$10 each connector maybe? One turn and one brake? $5 shipping. Hard to know if it’s just one side or if the reverse is ok. I can include supplies, you’d need wire strippers and a heat gun or hair dryer.

Junk yard for the win. A couple of heat shrink crimps and you're on your way.

What size are the crimps for the harness clips? It's giving me the option for different sizes

If you're going to re-crimp your wires, I believe OEM is 20 gauge so you want 090II sealed for the smallest size and the matching seal:

    Yazaki:
    7116-4025 -- skt
    7158-3006-90 -- seal

    or sumitomo:
    8100-0460 -- skt
    7165-0842 -- seal

Then, if your connectors are damaged you'd need

    6189-0179 brake (sumitomo)
    6189-0177 turn (sumitomo as well)

The sumitomo and yazaki 090II terminals and seals are cross compatible but if you want to get all super duper matchy matchy then go sumi for everything.

You are so helpful, I really appreciate it. Another question but is there an easier way to get the old crimps out?

1.5mm flathead screwdriver. Pry the white TPA away from the face and pop completely out. Small needlenose can help but more for the males, female need to be pried open. Then use the same 1.5mm blade to pull the plastic tab away from the terminal and push it out from the front if no wire to pull on the back. So you need another small screwdriver or at least a toothpick.

You can probably buy the entire connector repair package from Toyota. I buy them all the time for fixing collision damaged harness’s.

I was able to get the old pin crimps out. Now I'm just waiting on the new ones to arrive. I appreciate all the info, it's been super helpful.

Thread revival. @daveeasa do you have a website you recommend to buy the sumitomo 8100-0460.

All the websites I pull up are shipping from China, just seeing what you recommend thanks
