Tailgate Tent

I'm looking for a suggestions for a tailgate tent (no ground portion) for my 2018 Double Cab Short Box with a cab high canopy. Searching the forums, I came across older posts referring to the now discontinued GMC Envoy XUV tent.

I contacted Napier to see if they may have come up with a solution today. I was told that their Sportz Cove is a compatible solution for compact trucks with a shell on top. Their Sportz Cove model 61500 is the recommended model, which has the extra material to except a fold down tailgate.

Has anyone had experience with this model on their Tacoma with a canopy? Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 6' version of the tent that rj15tacoma mentioned. I used to use it on my first gen. They take a bit practice to get the tension set correctly on the many straps so that the tent fits the truck well. They will also rub on your body some and eventually damage the clear coat. With that being said, the tent quality was pretty good and withstood a windstorm of 50+ mph winds. I enjoyed the tent but eventually bought a hard shell topper.

 

I have something like this, it works well but it kinda sucks to have to empty the bed to make the tent. If you can fit everything in the cab then it's great. Also make sure it is tight so that water doesn't pool anywhere because it will start to drip and leak.

 

Truck has a canopy, full truck bed tent not what I'm looking for.

Wow. That is super cool.

 

All it needs to be is a little nicer shaped/looking to maximize interior room, and he could sell them.
